Today begins #SafetyWeek! At MZI safety isn't just a rule, it's a culture. We have a 360 commitment to safety and at every turn we take an active, visible role in safety implementation and execution. Todays topic is Driving Personal Ownership. Here are a few reminders to keep our worksites safe: 🦺 Success depends on everyone understanding safety protocols. Everyone is a leader when it comes to safety. We value everyone’s voice. ⚠Participate during daily planning discussions; help identify hazards, challenges, and suggested safeguards. Challenge any unsafe acts or conditions and praise positive and safe behavior. 👷♀️Accept responsibility for your actions and offer solutions to prevent incidents. Follow the rules, they are there to keep you safe. 🚧Give and act on positive and negative feedback. Continually look for opportunities to learn from others. Keep communicating the benefits of sustained safety. Together, we can build a safer enviornment for ourselves and the communities in which we operate! #ConstructionSafetyWeek #SafetyFirst

Your safety is our priority I was in the right place at the right time earlier today, dropping in to an ad-hoc safety discussion with TRU's West Alliance, attended by ~100 of the team who had abandoned their desks to huddle in Square One. We were ably led through a review of common lessons learned, key themes and trends to keep people alive to the hazards. It was really encouraging to see the level of participation from many in the crowd, demonstrating a clear engagement and passion for safety which spanned disciplines and organisations. Some takeaways for me: - How / do we establish that workers really understand their briefings? - Reminding people they are empowered to stop and speak out for safety - The need to develop a culture where we stand down immediately when we notice that ANYTHING has changed in our plans, and take 5 to check that everything actually is as expected - Linking back to our TRU value of Safety First, are we doing everything we can to get everyone home safe every day, and are people comfortable speaking up? Great work and I'm looking forward to the next one

Many of us took time for Stand Up 4 Grain Safety Week last week. Do not let that momentum die; safety must be an ongoing part of our work days so we make it home at the end of each work day. Now is a great time for you to take in our course, Developing an Effective Safety Culture at Your Company. Safety isn't something we just do for a week, it must be something we do every day. This course provides grain-industry employees with an appreciation for what “safety culture” really means and discusses why practicing safety is always a good business decision. It will also provide the tools needed for evaluating a company’s current safety culture and then continuously improving it. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gHTdaFGa

Walk with a purpose. Ever try a safety walkaround? The purpose of a safety walkaround is twofold. One shows management engagement in the safety of the facility and employees. The second shows how the safety program works and better identifies and eliminates hazards.
