Do you know the meaning behind the acronym #PROOF, which we recently used in one of our projects? 🤔 It stands for “Predictions of Renewables Optimized for Offshore using Forecasting.” Want to know more? ⬇ Offshore wind generation plays a crucial role in achieving our climate ambitions by 2050. 🎯 To maximize the benefits of the existing and future offshore wind farms, outages required for maintenance works should be planned optimally in periods of low wind generation. Together with Elia Group and the Power Systems and Markets Research Group - University of Mons (Belgium), N-SIDE is working on an optimization model to plan offshore maintenance and maintenance affected by offshore wind generation. 🤝 👉 The goal is to reduce the need for curtailment during outage periods. The model takes into account grid and resource constraints, as well as accurate forecasts of offshore wind power generation, to recommend the best times for carrying out the outages, while also considering the N-1 security criterion.
