What could be a lucrative application for funcional analysis? I've thought of methods for solving PDEs or differential equations facilitating unicity or/and existence. I think the problem with this way of thinking is that this area of math tends to be meta-aplicative. there are aplications for the solutions used later to solve problems. What do you think?

Indices - A Quick Intro! Day 53 Tip 53 In math, indices (or exponents) simplify how we represent repeated multiplication. This concept may seem simple, but it’s powerful, especially when working with large numbers. Here is a video talking about Indices and Rules of Indices: These rules streamline calculations, enhance our understanding of patterns, and are the foundation of more complex mathematical concepts. #NothingBeyondThis #MathMadeEasy #LearningIndices #MathSkills

I am thrilled to announce that our paper titled "A Progressive Hedging-Based Matheuristic for the Stochastic Production Routing Problem with Adaptive Routing" has been published in Computers and Operations Research. This paper explores the Production Routing Problem under demand uncertainty and introduces the innovative concept of adaptive routing. We developed a matheuristic algorithm that efficiently solves this problem. The results offer insights into the advantages of considering adaptive routing. A huge thank you to my supervisors, Prof. Jean-François Cordeau, and Prof. Raf Jans for their invaluable support and collaboration. For those interested in stochastic programming, the production routing problem and matheuristic algorithms, you can access the paper here: https://lnkd.in/etqqZDBR #OperationsResearch #Optimization #MathematicalProgramming

A simple math problem, 1+1, yields different answers depending on the context: - In Math: 1+1 = 2 - In Logic: 1+1 = 1 (considering the union of two sets) - In Binary: 1+1 = 10 (in binary code) This illustrates that: - There can be multiple answers to a single question. - The correct answer depends on the context, perspective, or framework. - Being aware of these nuances is crucial for effective communication and problem-solving.

"Yeh cheez sasti hai matlab iski value Kam hogi" In our society, it is common notion that anything is conceived to be of lesser quality if it is less valued🏷️ . The Veblen effect is a notion that most of us have learned and it aptly captures this idea. The Veblen effect refers to abnormal market behavior in which buyers buy more expensive💸 goods even while comparable, less expensive (but not identical) alternatives are available. However, what matters is the value for money 💰 you get from the product, not its price🏷️. Checking the specifications and quality of items is necessary to identify those that offer good value for money among the numerous available on the market. It is true that some items must carry a higher price tag📈 in order to sustain their market share, much like Apple does. However, generally speaking, high-quality products can be found at considerably lower prices too... Thank you for staying till end. #writing #myinsights #valueformoney

This semester is off to a wonderful start as our paper, "A Sequential Quadratic Programming Method With High-Probability Complexity Bounds for Nonlinear Equality-Constrained Stochastic Optimization", has recently been published in SIOPT!! In this paper, we present a high-probability complexity result for a step-search SQP method designed to solve equality-constrained stochastic optimization problems, where the objective estimates are characterized through an inexact probabilistic oracle. Thanks to my amazing collaborators Albert S. Berahas (University of Michigan Industrial & Operations Engineering (IOE)) and Miaolan Xie (Purdue University Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering)!
