We all have a role to play in tackling health disparities to drive improvements in healthcare access and outcomes for patients across the UK. During the pandemic, we saw the healthcare system harness the power of data. In today’s data-driven world, we must not miss the opportunity to deliver better, more equitable provision of healthcare, informed by data. The Voluntary Scheme for Branded Medicines Pricing, Access and Growth (VPAG) contains important commitments to enable this. Our Executive Director for Value, Access and Devolved Nations John McNeill shares his thoughts on the importance of implementing these and how data can lead to better health equity. Across the world, #healthcare systems are grappling with the same problems, delivering services amid resource constraints and increased demand from aging and growing populations, and rises in non-communicable diseases including cancer. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated existing health system issues, revealing weaknesses in the ways services are funded, organised and delivered, and creating significant backlogs in the diagnosis and treatment of many life-threatening conditions. AstraZeneca is committed to addressing this challenge, supporting initiatives such as the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience (PHSSR) and the goals of the new #Imagine campaign launched by EFPIA - European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations. This campaign highlights what is needed, and what Industry can do, to create a more resilient and competitive healthcare system in Europe, where patients get faster and more equitable access to medicines. Now we've imagined. According to the #WorldHealthOrganization, at least 4.5 billion people – more than the half of the world’s population - were not fully covered by essential health services in 2021. While science is increasingly demonstrating the ability to take on the world’s most devastating diseases, a tremendous health equity gap exists that determines which of us can access those innovations – and which of us cannot ; A dramatic fact that drives the commitment of our team, across Emerging Markets, to working for creating a healthier world, every day. This year’s theme of #WorldHealthDay: 'My health, my right’, marks for us our vision that every patient, regardless of where they live, will have access to breakthroughs that can change their lives. At Pfizer, we measure ourselves not just by the creation of breakthrough medicines and vaccines, but by the accessibility of those critical innovations within populations in need. To change patients’ lives, we apply a modernized approach to access, focused on affordability and delivery for patients with the greatest coverage gaps and out-of-pocket exposure. As a result of these efforts, in 2023, more than 600 million patients were treated and / or vaccinated by a Pfizer product. Find out more about our programs supporting equitable access in our 2023 Pfizer Impact Report (page 34): Pfizer.com/ImpactReport #WorldHealthDay #Impact #HealthEquity

Ever wondered how one program can revolutionize public health? Meet 340B. Created in 1992, the 340B Drug Pricing Program mandates drug manufacturers to offer outpatient drugs at reduced prices to eligible healthcare organizations. Here's why 340B is a gamechanger: **Cost Savings:** Healthcare providers save on pharmaceuticals and redirect funds to patient care. **Expanding Access:** Saved funds expand health services, enabling more patients, especially in underserved communities, to receive care. **Supporting Vulnerable Populations:** 340B entities serve many uninsured or low-income patients, ensuring access to essential medications. **Sustaining Community Pharmacies:** Financial stability helps pharmacies remain operational, particularly in rural or underserved areas. **Driving Innovation:** Savings fuel innovative programs like vaccine delivery and chronic disease management. But the impacts go further. By easing financial burdens, 340B helps to: - Improve patient outcomes - Enhance care quality - Promote health equity For example, by expanding the 340B network, my team captured over $3M in savings for an FQHC enabling us to reinvest in patient-centered care and innovative health programs. Imagine the possibilities if more healthcare entities leveraged this program effectively. Next time you hear about 340B, remember—it’s not just cutting costs; it's about improving lives. Want to learn more about optimizing healthcare with innovative solutions? Let's connect and make a difference together.

Today is #WorldHealthDay and we join the global community to raise awareness that access to quality healthcare is a right of everyone, regardless of where people live. In low- and middle-income countries, challenges to quality healthcare are becoming increasingly more complex requiring new models and mindsets to break silos to create partnerships that can drive sustainable change. I’m proud of the progress that our Global Health Unit has made in the past two years, helping to address access disparities and strengthen healthcare ecosystems in countries with the highest unmet medical needs. We have achieved this through cross-sector partnerships on a global, national and local level. A snapshot of our progress and impact over the past two years includes: - over 6,000 community health workers and HCPs received training, - more than 360,000 patients have been reached, and -over 40 active or completed programs in over 22 countries. We are continuing to build momentum to address the healthcare inequalities that continue to persist.
