NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals’ Post

Federal agencies have proposed much stronger parity rules, a critical step forward in the fight for mental health equity. These rules will help deliver on the promise of parity – improved access to life-saving mental health and addiction care services. The overwhelming support for these rules, demonstrated by nearly 10,000 public comments, with over 95% in favor, underscores a collective understanding that mental health and addiction care can no longer be an afterthought in this country. NAADAC is proud to support strong parity rules. https://bit.ly/43BSDo0

This is absolutely an issue, yes, and critical to help move forward. It is also true that some of the main issues such as chronic provider shortages due to insufficient reimbursement rates and predatory work environments remain unresolved. No amount of parity will fix that. There is no improving access where the providers don’t exist.
