Moving to the UK a year ago, I've been blown away by the openness surrounding mental wellbeing and the resources available. Here are a few things that made me say "WOW"🤯: 💛 Workplace Wellness: My employer Sodexo UK and Ireland offers a comprehensive wellbeing package, from meditation and daily wellbeing activities to counselling sessions through various platforms – impressive! 💙Accessible Support: The NHS and my health insurance provide free tools and talking therapy sessions – incredible! 💚 Cultural Shift: I even saw a YouTube ad saying, "We should all try therapy." Imagine that! Growing up in China, mental health was almost taboo 💣 . People hid their struggles out of fear of judgment🤐. But what I've experienced here has completely shifted my perspective. A year ago, I decided to prioritize my own mental wellbeing. Friends ask if the medication, exercise, and therapy have made a difference. Honestly, I didn't feel an instant change. But when life throws curveballs, I see a more resilient, positive me. It's all thanks to the journey I started – building self-awareness, finding balance, and embracing support.🤗 This Mental Health Awareness Week, let's each take a small step: 🌳Spend time in nature 🧘♀️Try meditation 🏃♀️ Move your body ❤️ Connect with loved ones 👂 Talk to a pro if it feels right What are you doing to prioritize your mental health? Mental health benefits can provide support to any and all employees no matter where they are on their mental health journey. Interesting article, I wonder if it's a sign of things to come 👇 Last year I published a paper which explored corporate employees' attitudes towards wellbeing initiatives, and several participants I spoke to mentioned unprompted that having easy access to psychological support at their place of work would be helpful.
