Country Spotlight of the week: Venezuela 🇻🇪 Nearshoring for Venezuela might be one of the most impactful solutions, with its potential to increase the PBI by 14%. Huawei, Chevron, and Schlumberger are global companies that operate in the region. The economic and political situation is dire in Venezuela, and this has forced a mass exodus of tech talent to search for opportunities in other countries from LATAM and the globe. Due to lack of stability and opportunity within their own country, Venezuela employees are usually the most loyal and appreciative of opportunities and will stick through thin and thick. While Venezuela is large, Maracaibo and Caracas are the main cities because that’s where most political activity happens, and in Caracas there’s better access to modern infrastructure. I've personally had over a dozen positive experiences with contractors from Venezuela. Resilient and full of grit are some things that come to mind when describing Venezuelan folks. Recently, I provided comments for Paryz.kz regarding the relocation of Russian businesses to Kazakhstan. In my comments, I highlighted several key aspects that I believe are important for understanding the current situation and future development prospects. "Kazakhstan faces a dual challenge: on one hand, the arrival of companies relocating from Russia can boost economic growth with new investments, job creation, and innovations. On the other hand, this increases competition for local businesses, which could result in lower revenues and more bankruptcies.
