It is possible for smart homes to work offline to a certain extent. While many smart home devices rely on an internet connection for remote access, updates and integrations with other services, some devices can function locally without needing internet connectivity. A truly smart home should be independent and autonomous. Modern smart homes face significant risks such as functionality loss during outages and privacy breaches. There's a need for tech companies to refocus on local, offline operability without compromising convenience and functionality. https://lnkd.in/dCkMZMWm #SmartHome

Had a great time at the Wi-Fi World Congress last week, this was my first time attending and I am so glad I did. Met lot of old friends and made some new ones, had some fan boy moments meeting in person some of the industry veterans who I always looked up to. And here are my takeaways from the excellent presentations at the conference. · Generative AI is the next big thing in Wi-Fi with more attempts to push more compute to the edge. · New innovations in low power Wi-Fi to try and reduce the need for home media gateways and amount of plastic currently in the smart home. · The amazing rise of the Wi-Fi in MDUs where property management, the Fiber provider and the Wi-Fi Router makers are partnering to create seamless onboarding and usage experience for apartment residents, making Wi-Fi just as common as a utility in the home like water and electricity. · Some amazing tools were presented that would improve the overall Quality of Install and Quality of user experience of Residential and SMB Networks · Open WIFI is picking up a lot of momentum with some big installs happening this year. · The first set of WiFi7 installations are already happening and basic forms of MLO seem to work well from initial test results. · Network as a Service is now a big trend. If you are an enterprise, just provide your address and floor plan and just pay a monthly fee per sqft and the whole network will be set up and managed for you. · Generative AI can further enhance Wi-Fi network’s ability in improving operational efficiencies and continue to convert Information Technology (IT) into Operations Technology (OT) · The new and upcoming Wi-Fi standards after WiFi7 have so many cool new feature promises such as Extremely high Reliability, ambient power sourcing, Wi-Fi Sensing, Enhanced Broadcast Services, V2X and much more.
