This #EarthDay, we're excited to share a sneak peek of our data on building a climate-ready public health system. According to NACCHO research conducted with local health departments (LHDs) nationwide: 📊 Only one-third of LHDs are addressing the public health effects of #ClimateChange, even though nearly half are located in jurisdictions that experience those effects. 📊 Limited resources like dedicated funding can be a barrier to protecting the public from the effects of climate change. 📊 However, LHDs may be slowly becoming increasingly involved in climate change work, including preparedness and policy activities. Explore the findings we've released so far on our research webpage (bit.ly/Naccho-Research) and stay tuned for a new report coming soon! #PublicHealth #Research

In your work on the health/climate nexus I would suggest that Nigeria Health Watch consider LeanMed's #O2Cube. It is a solar powered medical oxygen production system that brings oxygen to healthcare facilities that are too remote to be served economically, logistically and environmentally by traditional PSA plants. As we all move forward to bring oxygen to the billion people that today live (and die) without it, the idea of building hundreds more energy hungry PSA plants, transporting large cylinders in diesel trucks hundreds of kilometers on rugged roads and then driving back on those same roads to get the tanks refilled doesn't seem carbon friendly to me. At LeanMed, LLC we would suggest that using solar energy to bring oxygen to those patients that need it where they are living is both cost effective and environmentally friendly. #missiondriveninnovation

New book 📚 by the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies emphasizes the health co-benefits of climate action & vice versa. #WCA are amongst the most affected by the #climatecrisis.
