It’s a fitting time to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of NACM members, whose insights and leadership continue to strengthen the credit profession.
We’re sharing five valuable pieces of advice from five tenured credit leaders, each with their own unique journey and achievements.
1. ⭐ Leila Wolfe, CBA, credit supervisor at Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (Scottsdale, AZ): “We cannot stop learning just because we have been in the same role for 15 years and think we might know all there is to know,” she said. “Laws change, economic situations change, we have to grow with the world, or we are no longer useful to our teams or our organization.”
2. ⭐ Yaseen Owen, CBA, credit analyst at J.R. Simplot Company (College Station, TX): “When I began my career in credit, I was looking for anything to help bridge the gap between my previous banking experience and my current role,” he said. “I researched the NACM designation program and knew I had found my answer to jump starting my career in trade credit.”
3. ⭐ Mark Speiser, CCE, director of credit, N.A. and global nutrition at ADM (Decatur, IL): “To be a true executive leader, you must effectively engage your team and help manage any change,” he said. Speiser is a graduate of NACM's Graduate School of Credit & Financial Management and attended the Leadership Workshop at the 128th Credit Congress.
4. ⭐ Jeff Weber, MBA, CICP, director of credit at Uline (Pleasant Prairie, WI): “I pursued this designation because understanding international operations would enable me to make informed recommendations to executive management,” he said.
5. ⭐Whitney Styer, CBF, CCRA, assistant credit manager at Helena Agri-Enterprises, LLC (Collierville, TN): “Pursuing these designations means expanding my expertise, gaining a competitive edge and being equipped to make more informed and strategic decisions,” she said. “It’s about continuously challenging myself to reach new heights and contribute value to our organization and our customers.”
The bottom line: The experiences of these NACM leaders inspire us to remember that growth in the credit profession comes from a commitment to learning. Their stories serve as a testament to how credit professionals can contribute more meaningfully to their organizations.
Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving from the NACM team!
