Remember to always start your names with capital letters. Eg. Karim Jalloh. As a job seeker or business person, using a lower case letter at the beginning of your first or last name gives the impression that you do not pay attention to detail, or may lack the ability to communicate effectively in writing. We have always been told that you only make a first impression once, so don’t give someone the chance to reject you before meeting you.

YES-NO Often we have to say Yes or No to a request. This could have moral or even legal implications. Saying Yes is a commitment - to buy or sell something, lend money to a friend or to marry someone. Saying No can offend. A conceivable solution is to take your time to reply. Nowadays, individuals and organisations reply using No-Reply or hide behind technical excuses like insisting on a fresh request on a new format or upon providing additional information. Of course, many simply reply by saying “I don’t know”. Sometimes an honest answer is Yes and No. An example is: Q: Is the news good? A: Yes for many, No for some. #Yes-No #Yes #No #YesAndNo

The key to having successful hard conversations is to work diligently at setting up a respectful, trusting relationship in the first place when there is no controversy.
A lesson it took me too long to learn: Never avoid hard conversations. Hard conversations are a tax on deep relationships. When you avoid a hard conversation, you're taking on a debt that has to be repaid (with interest) at a date in the future. Time doesn't heal anything when it comes to relationships. Make the minor repairs along the way and you'll avoid the major repairs later on. Your success in life is proportional to the number of hard conversations you're willing to have. 📌 My first book hits shelves in just a few months! Time doesn't heal anything, it helps in keeping you "insane". As an expert guidance and holistic counselor I always tell my mental health clients or other clients to learn how to have those hard conversations instantly or within a short while. It's always a thorn in the flesh if you choose not to have that conversation. Often times, even when the conversation has been had, you still find yourself thinking about that issue and building resentments then imagine when you never talked about it. It would only end up as a thicking time bomb. Try the following: ➡️ Be expressive at all times ➡️ Choose to be the bad person ➡️ Never allow your negative emotions slip into the next day ➡️ Whatever thing that changes your mood must be trashed before the end of the day ➡️ Communicate effectively ➡️ Be a good listener, think before acting Refuse to continually take the blames for everything. Most times, you may not know you are mentally enslaved when you apologize for everything and anything even without doing anything. #Time #mentalhealth #therapy #communication #conversation

Yep! It's easy to avoid difficult conversations in order to "keep the peace". But you aren't truly keeping the peace, you are denying what's happening and pretending it will magically go away. At the same time, confrontation does not always need to be aggressive or hurtful. It can be delivered with love and compassion. To deliver confrontation with love and compassion, approach the conversation with positive intent, focusing on resolution rather than blame. Choose the right time and place, use “I” statements to express your feelings without accusing, and address specific behaviors instead of personal traits. Lead with empathy by validating the other person’s feelings and asking open-ended questions to understand their perspective. Be mindful of your tone and make sure you are in a good headspace to deliver the conversation calmly. If you need to ask for time to regulate yourself, do that. Stay calm, grounded, and collaborative, focusing on solutions and future actions. Be willing to acknowledge your role in the situation, listen actively, and close with appreciation to reinforce the value of the relationship and foster connection. #foodforthought #relationships #confrontation #conflictresolution

When you end a page-long run-on inquiry submitted on my firm website (detailing all of the facts, issues, and questions you have) with: "Please let me know if your team can address all or some of these needs and what it would cost. My preference is to use a blend of email and in-person exchanges, in addition to handling initial drafts where DIY is possible myself (as noted above) to keep costs down." 😲 My response may be a simple "no."
