My session was part of a vibrant exchange with over a thousand attendees and 200 empowering women's voices. Reflecting on this day feels like the start of something pivotal. My talk and a frank discussion with Jennifer Riggins, a tech journalist, sparked the idea for 'Future-Proof Your Business: Adapting Strategically to Thrive in Turbulent Times.' Our dialogue delved into the challenges and triumphs women face in tech. We're navigating uncharted waters, not just to find opportunities but to create them. It's about leveraging our unique experiences and insights to innovate. The Blue Ocean Strategy embodies this – creating new, uncontested market spaces. 👩🎓 Despite comprising 34-40% of employees in Southeast Asia’s technology sector, women take up only 20-30% of technical roles and just 9% of leadership positions. Why the disparity? The recent panel discussion, Smashing the Glass Ceiling – Women Who Have Cracked the Code, at ATxSummit 2024, brought together some of the most successful women in tech to share their journeys and discuss overcoming systemic challenges. The interventions outlined in a report by @BCG, in partnership with @IMDA, were focal points of the discussion, shedding light on how to eliminate the glass ceiling in tech. 🚀 Still on high levels of energy after the electrifying Women In Tech Sweden Conference last week 🚀 Got a lot of energy meeting up with some old friends and colleagues 💫 From groundbreaking discussions on AI ethics to inspiring sessions on fearless leadership, the event was a true testament to the power of diversity in shaping the future of tech. Here are some key takeaways that left me filled with inspiration 😊 💜EMPATHY IN INNOVATION Anna Lundqvist “Empathy is the highest form of intelligence”. Understanding diverse perspectives isn’t just a buzzword - it’s the key to designing solutions that truly make a difference. I was deeply touched by her keynote. 🌍PIONEERING SUSTAINABILITY IN DATA CENTERS The worlds data storage currently uses 2% of the global energy supply. Within 2 years it’s expected to increase to 8%. Lilly Vasanthini and Mats Andersson talked about the green IT strategy leading Infosys to the initiative to build a carbon neutral data center underground. By utilising an old mine next to a fjord in Norway they are making the future storage of data sustainable and super secure! Really cool! 💜 THE TRIPLE E’S Degmo Daar Empathy, Engagement, and Ethics merged as the guiding principles for responsible tech and innovation. And Dr. Gissel Velarde’s emphasis on diversity in shaping AI’s future was a powerful reminder that inclusivity isn’t just a checkbox - it’s a necessity for progress. 💫 FIND YOUR SPARK OF MEANINGFULNESS A very important message from Unn Swanström. Her story of how she ended up at Minecraft, doing things she finds joy in. Bad things can happen, but also good things. Allow yourself to excel! 💜 ACKNOWLEDGING INVISIBLE WORK Ida Östensson shed light on the often overlooked concept of invisible work that contributes to workplace and home environments. Women spend up to 200 hours more on non-promotable work per year, compared to male colleagues. Let’s strive to identify, acknowledge and value the contribution of all team members, ensuring that everyone has equal opportunities to thrive and grow in their careers. ⭐️ Change doesn’t happen over night, but with continued commitment and investment in future generations, we can create a more inclusive and diverse tech industry.
