The pressure to keep up with everything can be overwhelming, and before we know it, the true spirit of Christmas can get lost in the chaos. This year, let’s take a step back from the distractions. Instead of focusing on perfection, let’s focus on connection. Spend time with loved ones, enjoy the quiet moments, and reflect on what truly matters. 🌟 Whether it's a cozy evening by the fire, a walk in the winter air, or simply sharing laughter and love, these small, meaningful moments are what make the season bright. This holiday season has been an absolute whirlwind for me but in the midst of the flurry of Nutcracker performances, holiday prep, family time and the soon-to-be arrival of my first granddaughter, something struck me: It’s not the jolly old men in red suits that create the magic. It’s not all the sparkly lights covering the neighbor’s lawn. It’s not the unexpected shipment of gourmet cookies or even all of those tinsel filled Hallmark movies that make this holiday season feel so bright. The real magic is something much deeper. It exudes from every glimmer of this one month, December, when the “kind” in humankind seems to take front and center. It’s the generosity, the compassion, the joy and desire to make even one other person smile… It’s when we focus not only on the best version of ourselves, but on seeing the best in others. No…the true magic of humanity doesn’t require a red suit or 9 turbo charged reindeer. It simply requires us to remember that one of the most profound human miracles is when our capacity to love and find joy outshines our inclination to give into all of the “evidence” that points to despair. I discovered that the magic that I love around Christmas (and all the holidays) is worthy of being embraced and ignited 365 days a year! Happy holidays from our joyous abode! 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞, but the reality is that while it's a period of celebration for some, it can absolutely be a period of sadness for others. I've experienced both joy and sadness across the years over different holidays, and I just wanted to put this out as a bit of a gentle statement to my network. -- If you've lost a family member or close friend and this is your first Thanksgiving and Christmas without them, I am thinking of you today. -- If you've suffered a major setback in the last year job-wise or otherwise, and find yourself in this season of the year reflecting on that in ways that are painful for you, I'm thinking of you today. -- If you're in spot where little joy is visible today, my hope is that you are able to find joy in the cracks and spaces where joy exists and that you are able to extrapolate that feeling into other areas of your world. In short, if you're in my network, I wanted to extend a Happy Thanksgiving from my family to you and yours today. As we near the end of 2024, I wish you fulfilment, contentment, and peace in the days ahead. May we balance the wheel between celebration of our accomplishments, fellowship with our loved ones, and (where necessary) learning our lessons along the road from here to 2025.
