FINDING AID FRIDAY! Town of Danby V-2-5-1 (page 1 of shown) Unlike the northern portion of Tompkins County, Danby was not surveyed into military lots for the payment of Revolutionary War soldiers. It was part of the extensive Watkins and Flint Tract, a vast expanse of land that was named for wealthy developers John Watkins and Royal Flint and others. They bought more than 300,000 acres from New York after the state dispossessed Native Americans in the 1790s. Some of the early settlers of European descent were the Dumond, Yaple, and Beers families. This collection contains an early history of the town in a transcript of an 1850 census, a collection of newspaper articles and a 1978 village tour with a copy of an 1879 history of Danby attached. The “Danby Area News” from 1988 to 1993 provides a more recent account. Town of Danby Collection V-2-5-1Civil War related material includes a furlough notice and enrollment and descriptive records for Company F, 50th Regiment. For more information, or to make an appointment to explore our collections email archives@thehistorycenter.net. Our manuscript collections include Finding Aids, which are detailed box lists describing each collection's contents. CEO @Global Fellows in Courage | Co-founder @Philanthropy in Ukraine | Social Impact Strategist | Ukrainian | MBA
savED has unveiled crucial findings from recent research. Over the past 2 years in Ukraine, more than 1600 schools have been damaged and 212 completely destroyed. This equates to not just every tenth, but every seventh school in Ukraine. The data also reveals that 62% of adolescents require psychological assistance or believe it would be beneficial. Additionally, 63% of teachers have noticed a decline in students' academic performance since the onset of the full-scale war, with 94% observing significant gaps in their understanding of the material. 70% of school graduates aspire to university admission, whether in Ukraine or abroad, while 4% envision themselves in the armed forces and 1% in volunteering roles. Notably, 52% express a desire to continue living in Ukraine, leaving the question: what about the remaining 48%? The answers lie in the groundbreaking research on the impact of 2 years of full-scale war on education, presented by Saved Foundation. Social Studies: noun various aspects or branches of the study of human society, considered as an educational discipline. My family live in the state with the highest taxes in the Country. New Jersey. The largest portion of our tax goes towards schools. Today in my sons 7th Grade Socail Studies class the teacher asked students to name different Federal Government Agencies. My son said Defense Intelligence Agency. The teacher called him out and said not only are they not a Federal Government Agency but that they don’t exist. Followed by demeaning my son by saying he “the teacher” should know because he was invited to Congress to present a paper to Admend the Constitution. This is a public school. Paid for by tax dollars from all political views. One would expect: 1. Teachers leave their personal politics at home 2. Be well educated in the course they are teaching 3. If you are a Social Studies Teacher and asking kids about the Federal Government you should know the topic better than the 12 year old who has respect for our Active Duty Military Intelligence Community. The men and women who work for the DIA are the front line for protecting our Nation’s Troops and Citizens. Especially in today’s Geopolitical environment they deserve respect and recognition for their service. This is disheartening to say the least. My 12 year old son literally knows more about our Federal Government than a teacher who went to College and apparently has been invited by our Congress to present his opinion about “something” changing our Constitution! Maybe Congress should ask my son to come in his place? This is what our kids are being taught in our schools at New Jersey Department of Education. What happened to teaching them the truth? And encouraging the support of our Active Duty Armed Forces? #veterans #education #usmarines #usmc #schools #education #armedforces #veteranshelpingveterans #america #protectourkids

1/3 : Title: Bridging Psychological and Physiological Realms: Military Trends and Vigilantism in Civil Society Conclusion: The interplay between physiological psychology and military trends in the emergence of vigilantism within civil societies presents complex challenges and opportunities. By understanding the psychological and physiological underpinnings of these movements, society can better address the root causes and mitigate the negative impacts while harnessing the potential benefits of the discipline, resilience, and sense of purpose that military training provides. Balancing these elements requires thoughtful policies, community engagement, and a commitment to the principles of justice and rule of law.

Hello fellow industry professionals! Last week, I attended the annual @naahq Advocate Conference in Washington D.C., where we discussed critical housing issues with lawmakers. 🏘️💼 It was an incredible experience to serve as the Chair of the Independent Rental Owner Committee and lead a team on Capitol Hill. Our advocacy efforts focused on solving the housing affordability crisis through the innovative YIMBY (Yes In My Backyard) initiative, amending the CARES Act, and reforming the Housing Choice Voucher Program. ✨✨ While most discussions were productive, there were disheartening moments, like encountering legislation misrepresenting our industry. On my return, a fellow traveler's hostility towards our industry underscored the need for public education and advocacy. Despite the adversity, we found common ground and planted a seed for a more positive perception.🌱 Read the full story, including details on the bipartisan bills we discussed, on our Smart Blog: https://bit.ly/3VFjSw3 👈 Let's continue the conversation and advocate for our industry! 🗣️ . . . . . #naasmacs #naasmac #NAAAdvocateConference #NAAAdvocacy #HousingAffordability #YIMBYAct #ChoiceInAffordableHousingAct #RespectStateHousingLawsAct #RentalPropertyManagement #PublicEducation #IndustryAdvocacy #BipartisanBills #NAA #SmartBlog

This thesis explores the context of escalating societal polarization and political violence in the United States, shedding light on their implications for homeland security. It poses the following research question: How does the social identity analytical method explain the rise of polarization and its attendant threats to homeland security in the United States? This study scrutinizes the role of social identities in shaping divisive perspectives and underscores the danger posed by polarization. The findings emphasize that polarization is not exclusively confined to differences in political beliefs but is intertwined with individuals' sense of identity, where deeply held affiliations and self-perceptions become significant drivers of division. This phenomenon poses a significant challenge to national unity and security. In response to these challenges, the thesis concludes by advocating comprehensive reforms in education, media accountability, and evidence-based research. Further, it highlights the importance of exploring global polarization trends and addressing the intersectionality of identities. This research identifies the multifaceted challenges arising from polarization and linked violence, emphasizing the urgent need for collaborative efforts to preserve national security and cohesion in the United States.
