Here’s a useful statistic from the HRC’s 2024 Black LGBTQ+ Youth Report: almost half of the Black LGBTQ+ youth population lives in the South. When we write off the South, we are writing off the largest segment of our Black queer youth. We can’t simply dismiss the South as irrelevant — our future depends on it.
