INTERVIEW MISTAKES - 4 Talking Negatively about Previous Company Even though you faced troubles in previous organization, you don't need to be too much open in sharing that during an interview. Constant nagging about it might highlight you as a tough one to adjust Instead, you should focus on what learnings did you get in that company and how it helped you to improve your skillset. Being optimistic is the best in such cases. What positivity you have taken from there should be main highlight when asked Do let me know your thoughts about it in the #comments Also, if you want to reach out to me, do send a request on Topmate, the link is on my profile. Tip #2 to prepare for a job interview As the job market continues to slow in 2024, it is more important than ever to knock it out of the park with job interviews. If you have made it past the gauntlet of AI systems scanning your resume and chatbots asking you to record answers to basic questions and have made it to the stage of meeting with an actual person, you need to be ready. As a recruiter, I have interviewed thousands of candidates for jobs, and one of the things I am impressed with the time and again is when a candidate only speaks highly of their previous roles. One of the biggest turnoffs for hiring managers is negative talk about your former employer. As you prepare for your interview, consider your previous jobs and what you liked and did not like about them. When asked about a prior job, focus on the positive, not the negative. Talk about your accomplishments, what you learned, and how you grew as a person and a professional in that role. Remember that this is a time to tout your accomplishments, not disparage your old boss. This positive approach will not only reflect well on you but also boost your confidence during the interview. If you are pressed for why you left a particular role, it's crucial to frame it as positively as possible. This positive framing not only reflects well on you but also demonstrates your ability to handle challenging situations with grace and professionalism. #interviewskills #careers #employment #mypeopleperson

Job Interview Reality: Overcoming the 'Perfect Candidate' Syndrome - Please read: Trying to present yourself as the 'perfect candidate' can backfire. ✅ Why this matters: 🧶Authenticity: Interviewers can often sense when you’re not being genuine. Authenticity is more compelling than perfection. I hope you know they sometimes have psychologists at interviews. 😅 🧶Relatability: Sharing real experiences, including challenges and how you overcame them, makes you more relatable and memorable. I always apply a chronological approach adopting the S.T.A.R. model - you know it? 🧶Growth Potential: Employers value candidates who demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow over those who seem flawless but rigid. You should know how to draw a balance between both. Be honest about your strengths and areas for improvement. Highlight your ability to learn from past experiences and your enthusiasm for continuous growth. #jobinterview #jobsuk #indeed #jobsacuk #jobberman #STAR #seunajayi #jobs #linkedininsights

3 Powerful Job Interview Questions Are you tired of the same old interview questions? We all know how critical it is to get interviews right. Here are 3 simple but fairly non-typical ideas: 1) [𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿] “I’d like for you to give me candid feedback on how you think I did as an interviewer. What feedback do you have for me?” Notes: 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘳, 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥. 𝘊𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘢𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭. Knowing what you know about the team and our culture, what aspects of your past performance / experience, if overlooked, could 𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 mean the first 9 months aren’t as successful as we’d hope it to be?” Note: 𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧-𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘺. "What makes you a good fit for this company?" It's something you've almost certainly been asked in an interview setting before. And even if the question isn't explicitly put to you, interviewers will be scrutinising your suitability the whole time. So how can you make sure you're ticking all their boxes? 🟣 Do your research. Make sure you know the job description inside out, and understand the company values before your interview. 🟣 Come with examples. They don't have to be outlandish or unbelievable - just prepare a handful of highlights from your career to date and be ready to share them when asked. 🟣 Ask the right questions. Even if you already think you know the answers, it goes a long way to demonstrating your interest in the role, and shows you're just as keen to know if they're a good fit for you as you are for them. 🟣 Be yourself. Show your enthusiasm for the role, and let your natural personality shine through. #Interview #Jobs #Hiring #NowHiring #Recruitment
