As sectors of the commercial real estate markets face refinancing challenges, Blackstone’s Jonathan Gray highlights that rising property values may not be enough to save over-leveraged property owners. With interest rates staying higher than anticipated and the market slow to rebound, many office deals are in particular trouble burdened by unsustainable debt and depressed property values. According to Gray, the CRE market may have hit bottom, but the storm isn't over yet as the effects of devaluation continue to play out.
