Last year I left COP28 more than a little frustrated. Why? Probably for some of the similar reasons as others but also for one specific reason… How and why was it so hard to identify 150+ women in business and finance who were working towards unlocking solutions? Circa 100,000 people were expected to attend COP28. Yet when we were speaking to friends, business contacts and our network we would get a lot of similar responses:  - "Most of the delegations I know going are all men"   - "I know ‘x’ who is an amazing climate activist or campaigner" - "You need to meet this amazing lady doing the best work at x corporate, she’s not going to COP28 but is really driving solutions in her corporate/business/team etc". Reflecting on all the responses and seeing the astounding energy in the room at our Unlocking Solutions dinner with MSCI Inc. at COP28, in January I came back to the office thinking, how do we recognize these women? How do we raise their profile so that their work is recognized and help them? Like many, I believe that for climate solutions to be unlocked business needs to be the core driver. Huge thanks to Ørsted for hosting and to Eurazeo, Potential Energy Coalition, and Columbia Climate School for supporting (btw - we are accepting more sponsors and funders to help scale country networks). The facts are clear: Women and girls are 2.5 times more likely to push for climate action. We see this every day - in boardrooms, in Cabinet rooms, in negotiating rooms, in classrooms, in communities, and on the streets. But some days it can feel very lonely. As one courageous leader put it at our event, "Many will say, why is that woman pushing so hard for climate action again?" But being with all these incredible women, women leading on climate in every country around the world, who are courageous and pragmatic and empathetic, reminded me that we're never alone. And that together, we can fight business as usual and entrenched interests, and we can win. And winning is the best thing possible. It means a cleaner, more prosperous, fairer future for everyone. This is not an exclusive movement and it builds on and supports the work of so many others (and we appreciate men supporting strong women!). Our first order of business is to support our Brazilian Women Leading on Climate network and push for more ambitious and actionable national climate plans including (#3xrenewables, doubling of energy efficiency and transitioning away from fossil fuels) into #COP30 next year. Giving Women Conference - A conference of Hope and Action Now is the moment to amplify the message and act Ten days have passed since Giving Women hosted its 11th Conference on Women at the frontline of Climate Action and Innovation”. It has taken me till now to process the incredible richness of the discussions which included storytelling, knowledge sharing, highlighting of innovative and courageous solutions most often created by women facing the climate crisis in their daily lives. The panellists and moderators, from over 25 countries, included a wide variety of stakeholders: frontline women, activists, entrepreneurs, experts and policy makers.  Their call to action was for greater collaboration, access to funding, knowledge sharing. They also highlighted the need to find ways to replicate the solutions and include the voices of frontline women in the strategic planning to adapt and mitigate the environmental crisis which our planet and its communities are living. There were many inspiring insights which we have been reflecting on with Giving women members and partners.
