Transforming insect larvae into a sustainable future for aquaculture feed 🐟 In #Poland, an #EMFF-backed project is pioneering the use of insect larvae to reshape aquaculture feed. 🔹 This innovative feed, enriched with insect larvae, offers high-quality nutrition, supporting healthier growth and development in fish. 🔹 With its improved digestibility and efficiency, the feed maximizes nutrient uptake and reduces waste production, enhancing aquaculture performance. 🔹 Better water stability and lower pollution from this feed formula promote cleaner water and sustainable practices, benefiting our aquatic ecosystems. By empowering local producers to create their own sustainable feeds, this initiative is driving both profitability and environmental stewardship. A big step forward for sustainable aquaculture! 🌱🐟

Sustainable aquaculture is crucial for food security and environmental protection worldwide. It plays a key role in ensuring food supply while relieving pressure on wild fish resources and maintaining marine ecosystem balance. The rapid growth of the aquaculture sector highlights its importance as one of the fastest-growing food production sectors globally. However, challenges related to feed sources and their environmental impact persist. Innovative strategies are essential to achieve aquaculture sustainability by 2030. By replacing unsustainable feed ingredients with alternatives like algae and seaweed, and implementing technologies such as closed RAS systems and aquaponics, we can enhance sustainability and reduce environmental impact. Collaboration, innovation, and investment in sustainable aquaculture are driving positive change for the seafood industry and the planet. Let's work together to contribute to marine sustainability and create a better future for all! 💪🌱🐾🐋 #Watersustainability #Sustainability #climatechange #ocean #marine #aquaponics #aquaculture #foodsecurity

📢 Our latest newsletter is out! Sumatra Island represents the global challenge of balancing #NatureConservation with enhancing local #livelihoods. Over the past 50 years, vast monoculture plantations have replaced rich biodiversity, yet millions of smallholders have been lifted out of poverty. How can we reconcile these two realities? Recently, #Livelihoods team and @BernardGiraud went in Sumatra to work on three of our projects where we are addressing these dual challenges. Since 2009, Livelihoods has partnered with local NGOs and businesses to foster sustainable solutions—restoring mangroves damaged by the 2004 tsunami, supporting smallholder palm oil growers, and launching an ambitious agroforestry project to protect Leuser Park. Bernard reflects on the progress made: Smallholders are increasingly adopting sustainable practices like composting and agroforestry, moving away from reliance on chemical inputs. There’s a growing collaboration between public and private sectors to protect nature while creating economic opportunities for local communities. Our approach? Building strong coalitions, staying grounded in field realities, and innovating financially to scale sustainable practices. While the challenges are significant, our 15 years of experience show that real transformation is possible. We remain committed to driving change that benefits both people and the planet. 🌱 #Sustainability #Livelihoods #Agroforestry #PalmOil #SocialImpact #Sumatra #Conservation #SustainableDevelopment Marion Daras Carlier 🔗 [Read the full article](https://lnkd.in/daCnN2V7) https://lnkd.in/daCnN2V7
