The Christmas period was a tale of two halves for retailers, with some doing extremely well, and others not so well. I'm sure there will be plenty of not so great news for retailers in the coming weeks and months, so I thought I would share the good news for Sosandar instead this morning. Towards the end of last year, the outlook for the women's clothing brand was that there would be a loss for this financial year. However, given their (apparently) strong line in frocks and party outfits, Sosandar have managed to bring in revenue of £14.3m for the three months to 31 December 2023, compared to £11.6m for the same period last year. This strong trading period has now swung the balance in terms of profits, with the outlook now at £100k in profits at year end, as opposed to the loss that it had reported previously. Interestingly, the increase in gross margin has contributed to this strong performance, with the margin increasing to 58%, up from 56% previously. This will no doubt stand them in good stead as they look to launch their first store later on in the year - whether they can maintain this as the business starts to move towards bricks and mortar will remain to be seen. #consumer #retail #fashion #turnaround https://lnkd.in/eRPBWgAB
