Faced with the need for additional classrooms, we embarked on a thorough exploration of options alongside Elevate's dedicated team. Together, we identified the opportunity to repurpose previously unused attic space into a functional mezzanine, effectively optimizing available resources and space. Recognizing the importance of accessibility, we sought a solution that would ensure inclusivity for all students. The decision to implement a lift, rather than a traditional elevator, underscored our joint focus on efficiency and practicality. This project underscores our collective dedication to educational excellence and equitable access. Elevate Collegiate Charter School in Houston, TX needed additional classrooms to house its enrollment. The obvious answer was to install portable classrooms on the large yard. The less obvious solution was to build a mezzanine in what was formerly attic space by building a structure within a structure. The 2nd challenge was providing accessibility to said mezzanine. The obvious solution was to install an elevator. The less obvious was to build a lift. Here are both creative solutions in place saving time, money, and without compromise. From the outset, the A Learner's Toolkit program sought to present something different in the Australian educational space. Driven by its underlying principle of reciprocity, it sought to create a network of schools that could share expertise, knowledge, and resources across the barriers of school system, type and geography freely. Most importantly, this sharing occurs without prohibitive financial and human costs associated with similar professional offerings and networks. Finally, the IP related to A Learner's Toolkit program, its professional learning (watch this space), and its resources are open-access and shareable and, again, not hidden behind the barrier of who can pay for it or what system your school is associated with.
The A Learner's Toolkit team is pleased to announce that Theodore State School has become a Partner School. Theodore State School is our first regional P-10 Queensland state school. Importantly, our growing cohort of Partner Schools (now over 40) is now beginning to represent schools for all 3 systems, contexts and geographies across Australia.
