Localisation Tips for Japan 🇯🇵 💡 Tip #25: The go-to B2B platform in Japan is NOT LinkedIn 😱 yet 😏 But for now, marketers need to look at platforms like Yahoo! JAPAN, X, Facebook or B2B DSPs. I have connected with many Japanese professionals here on LinkedIn, and the community IS growing. But the majority of Japanese professionals are still mainly connecting in real life, exchanging business cards, and maybe using SanSan or Eight to manage their contacts - both of which are not real social media platforms. There is no equivalent to LinkedIn in Japan, which is one of the biggest reasons why there is so much potential for the platform in Japan, but for now, most professionals, should they contact you online, will connect with you on Facebook. Gen Z, however, are not active on Facebook at all which can pose a challenge in B2B targeting. We've seen success with Yahoo! JAPAN display ads as many business owners, managers, and decisions makers (in the older generations) still tend to use Yahoo! JAPAN. And the use of B2B DSPs like MicroAd is great for targeting specific industries, businesses, or business card info from Eight such as department or job title. X is a bit of a wildcard, but it still has the largest Japanese audience out of any social media platform and can be a great way to increase brand awareness and grow your community. What are some of your challenges with B2B targeting in Japan? Do any of these points resinate with you? I hope we can build a larger Japanese community here on LinkedIn so we can easily target businesses 🤣 I should start posting in Japanese too, but as soon as I do, my reach and engagement plummets. Does it for you as well? #WeeklyWisdom #Japanesemarket #localisation #localization #B2B

I am planning to reaching out to prospective clients more through Linkedin, but the majority of the engagement happens on X in my field (videogame), so that is definitely still a staple in the Japanese B2B communication.

Depending on which layer, the best ways to connect are golf courses and recently saunas. Nomikai of course also never gets old. 😩
