What does a teacher of English as a second language do? As English teachers, we teach a language and provide access to one of the most important tools that has been opening doors in the world for centuries. Students have the opportunity to discover the world beyond the one they know, history, which often helps to understand the origins of who we are or those around us. We create worlds of possibilities. We develop critical thinking so that students also develop the ability to express their critical opinion of the world around them, from the most simple and day-to-day to the most controversial and intrinsic of human beings, along with cultures around the world. We broaden the vision. And all this is achieved with creativity, empathy, dynamics and variety.
