Trying to make this a better world for Civil Engineers | Skillbind Education | Construction Management | Ed-tech Start-up
Did not expect my last post to reach so many people 😮 , but it shows how many people share the common pain of being underpaid in the Construction Industry! 😢 Here's the real deal, this scenario will not change just because me and you posted about this on LinkedIn. This hardship has been there for a long time and there's good chance it will take a lot more to go away. 🤷♂️ But what we can do, is spread awareness of what different fresh Civil Engineers can do to make sure they get a decent paying job right out of college. 😎 So if you are a student, or a recent graduate, here are 3 things you can do that will more or less guarantee you a job after graduation : 1. Internships : Make sure you do at least one 3-6 months Internship. It can be paid/unpaid, in Site Execution, or a design and drafting firm. This will give you exposure to Industry dynamics, a peek into what skills companies want you to have. 2. Start building network : A lot of students have a misconception that LinkedIn is just for working professionals. This is absolutely wrong, starting early on LinkedIn, staying active and building a good network will help you leverage it later when you are looking for a job. 3. Start learning Skills : Don't limit your knowledge to your curriculum. Learn specific skills that are job oriented, like Drafting, Modeling, Analysis etc. This will help you pick your niche when you graduate and increase chances of getting a job in this profile. If you cover the above 3 bases, then most likely you have ensured yourself an entry-level job right after you graduate. I am tagging a few profiles who are working hard to make this a better world for Civil Engineers and Architects. Consider following them for great mentorship and guidance 🙌 Sachin Amarnath Er.Ashok Kumar PE, PMP, IGBC-AP .Siddharth Nahta Niyanth Vashist Akshay Kamath #civilengineering #constructionindustry #constructionmanagement
