One of the common reasons for Paraplanners to look for a new role is to move into a Trainee IFA role (with that job title on their contract)– it's also the hardest one - as most companies prefer to offer the opportunity to current staff and therefore there are less opportunities around/ a lot of candidates all vying for the same role! Paraplanning roles with a clear pathway into advice is the easiest route but the risk is you can get stuck in the paraplanning role for longer than originally thought.... from our point of view for later down the line – the most important thing is to make sure the company are committed to improving your technical knowledge, developing your client relationship skills with strong mentoring in place...
