I am excited to announce that our new paper, "2-Methylimidazole-1-(N-tert-octyl)sulfonimidoyl Fluoride: A Bench-Stable Alternative to SOF4 as Precursor to N,O-Substituted S(VI) Compounds" has been published in Angewandte Chemie. In this work, we synthesized 2-methylimidazole-1-(N-tert-octyl)sulfonimidoyl fluoride (ImSF) on a gram scale via double fluorination of t-OctNSO. ImSF is a novel, bench-stable analogue of SOF4 which showed to be an interesting starting material for chiral sulfurimidates and sulfuramidimidates. A huge thank you to Fedor Miloserdov and Han Zuilhof who made this possibble! Read the full publication here: https://lnkd.in/ePsSzH7K

I know, that it's a bit out-dated, but I finally forced myself to post it. I'm happy to introduce my recent published first-author paper about the protection and photodeprotection of oligonucleotides. Protection of oligonucleotides by cyclization is a known concept. However, the further linearization could be a bit tricky. In our work we used a recently descovered photoreactivity including photo-oxidative cleavage of the double bond in BODIPY-based fluorophore. This photoreactivity combined with the cyclization of the oligonucleotide by such phototether leads to the full linearization of the oligonucleotide and therefore to the restoration of its original function and an effective base-pairing. https://lnkd.in/eRcP8-Jc

As a physicist I find such publications very helpful for highlighting Research Integrity as "an issue for all scientists who should embrace the promotion of best practices in their own disciplines," as mentioned at the introduction. This time, we have a valuable perspective from Natural Sciences!
