It was a lovely idea of Sean Jones KC's. All the same — chuffed, humbled, astonished, grateful etc though I am by all the nice things people must have said about me to bring about my promotion to Tier 2 in employment — I'm afraid I won't be donating to Save the Children UK. Why? you ask. How could anyone be such a meanie? The answer is here: https://lnkd.in/gbF5vdGm. Save the Children is advertising itself as fully signed up to a toxic ideology that corrupts and inverts every institution it touches. If you think that's a bit over-excited, have a read of Alabama's amicus brief in USA v AG for Tennessee: https://lnkd.in/gkXgKSwd. It's quite long, but especially if you're new to all this, well worth reading in full. It's a shocking, devastating account of wickedly reckless (at best) harm to children. But if you're short of time, skip to the bit headed "WPATH Recommends Castration as “Medically Necessary” for “Eunuchs" at p.34. Remember that all minimum age limits were removed from WPATH's "Standards of Care 8" at the last minute, at the insistence of the US Department of Health. Then go back to Save the Children's "Trans Inclusion Policy", and have a think about whether you trust Save the Children to do its bit to save children from harm at the hands of this ideology. I know I don't.
First, dear colleagues, congratulations on your wonderful write ups in the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners guides. You have every right to be pleased and a bit of humble-bragging will be irresistible. But stop! Have you secured your humble-brag licence? If you have not, that sweet, sweet hit of affirmation could soon sour. Imagine yourself alone in a dark wood, hunted mercilessly by the guilt of having engaged in unlicensed humble-bragging. How have you fallen so low? I'm here to rescue you from all that anguish. Simply make a donation to Save the Children through the Billable Hour Appeal (billablehour.org) and you can continue humbly to share your rankings, your soul untarnished. Turn boasting into help for kids in crisis, whether caught up in conflict or suffering the effects of poverty. This year, I will give a bottle of champagne to the humblest brag by a licensed bragger. Re-posts welcome. As is the merciless hunting down and bringing unto the path of righteousness of your friends, colleagues, rivals and opponents.
If I've got this wrong — as ever, of course, I'll be glad to hear.
I stopped supporting Plan UK, as it campaigns for girls to have access to single sex toilets and changing rooms in the third world for reasons of safety privacy and dignity, but maintains these amenities are unecessary in the UK or other first world countries. This policy manages to be both racist and sexist.
At least 10 years ago I raised this issue with an ex-colleague who then held a senior post at STC. It’s been their policy for a long time…. again the US hegemony infects institutions 😡
Donating to charities is a wonderful thing. But one has to be careful to vet the recipient organization. Too many featherbedders (actual mission receives too little of donations, with administration, marketing, ... receiving too much) and outright bad actors.
It's now become the norm in Anglosphere countries for the cultural institutions, quangos and NGOs run by our current crap and disordered elites that they do the opposite of what their name suggests. So 'Save the Children' doesn't, it does the opposite. The British Museum hates Britain and the past. What none of their CEOs do is resign from their jobs on principle.
