Eye-tracking research helps Indianapolis museum steer guests in the right direction "Prominent signage is key when navigating a new space. This is especially true when the majority of a location’s visitors are parents or guardians who are attempting to guide themselves while caring for young children. In partnership with the University of Southern Indiana, the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis used eye-tracking to determine how effective their wayfinding signage truly was for first-time guests." Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer, Ten North Group (formerly Opa-Locka Community Development Corporation - OLCDC)
Ten North Group (formerly Opa-Locka Community Development Corporation - OLCDC) and the City of Opa-locka are undertaking to advocate for Opa-locka to become the chosen city for the proposed Florida Museum of Black History. We've recently submitted a proposal to the Florida Museum of Black History Task Force in Tallahassee, highlighting the unique cultural significance and historical richness of Opa-locka, as well as the “why” of the city becoming the chosen location for this important institution (strategic location in greater South Florida, proximity to public transit and higher ed institutions, etc.). As part of this effort, the Division of Historical Resources (DHR) is seeking input from the public through a crucial survey. Your participation in this survey is vital to demonstrate community support for Opa-locka as the future home of the museum. Your input will help showcase the significance of establishing the museum at an existing 4-acre regional state complex in our downtown. Please take a moment to complete the survey by clicking on the link provided below: https://lnkd.in/e3-29-G7 We ask for you to complete the survey no later than this Friday, February 16 at 5 p.m., in advance of their next meeting on the 19th. Additionally, I’m including the survey questions below for your review: • What questions do you have about the proposed Florida Museum of Black History? • What kind of experiences should museum visitors have while touring galleries and exhibit spaces? • In addition to the topics listed in CS/HB 1441 (Chapter 2023-72, Laws of Florida), what other topics do you want to see in the Florida Museum of Black History? • What kind of facilities and services would you prefer to have available at the Florida Museum of Black History? • Where in Florida do you think the proposed Florida Museum of Black History should be located? • What are the key factors to consider while selecting a suitable site for the proposed Florida Museum of Black History? • What would be your top three reasons for visiting the proposed Florida Museum of Black History? • In your opinion, what are the most important factors to consider when planning for the proposed Florida Museum of Black History? • Do you have any other questions, comments, or concerns? Thank you for your participation and support in this endeavor. Together, we can work towards making Opa-locka the chosen city for the future Florida Museum of Black History.

Most human rights complaints (50 to 60%) are and have been grounded in disability discrimination ... and yet govts and human rights commissions do little to nothing about disability discrimination (despite signing the CRPD under Harper and the Liberals, NDP and other pretending to support it)... its been painfully obvious that govt has been recruiting race based complaints to bolster their unsupported decisions to prioritize campaigns against racisms while ignoring discrimination based on disability. and here we have another campaign to address a relatively uncommon form of discrimination relative to how frequently the disabled face discrimination.

Curator of Art @ Barry Art Museum, PhD in American Studies from William & Mary | Examining Art Access, Outreach Exhibitions
Eight years ago, during my tenure as Curator of Collections and Exhibitions at the Roswell Museum, I started learning about federal community art centers, a remarkable New Deal initiative that remains one of the most expansive art-sharing programs in the history of the United States. Ever since I learned about this program, I've wanted to map its history digitally so that researchers could follow the movement of art exhibitions, observe the opening and closing of art centers, and trace the migrations of art center personnel as they were assigned to different sites. Today, I'm happy to share I've taken a first step toward this long-term goal by creating a StoryMap about federal community art centers. Here, I share all the information I've learned about them since 2016, from the addresses of specific sites to the contents of circulating exhibitions. This StoryMap, in short, represents eight years of ongoing research and analysis. More than a repository for my research though, this project is an invitation to other researchers interested in federal community art centers. I'm asking everyone interested in this initiative to share their data so we can compile all our research in one place. This program is too vast for one person to document, and I know there are others as passionate about it as I am. So let's get together and share our data. Together, we can document this significant but understudied initiative. #newdeal #digitalhumanities #federalcommunityartcenter https://lnkd.in/eenEHd_p

Ten years ago today, I joined 9/11 family members, rescue and recovery workers, and survivors, to dedicate the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. Today it stands as a permanent reminder of those killed, and the service, bravery, and compassion of those who stood together in unity during those dark hours. The 9/11 Memorial Museum preserves an essential moment in our history for future generations, ensuring that we will never forget. Join me in visiting the #911Museum, which will now offer free admission to New Yorkers on the first Monday of each month beginning June 3.
