Lighting effects are a secret weapon in #OOH. Here, photochromic paint changes depending on the level of light shining. Also: Thermochromic paint changes based on temperature. UV paint glows when hit with UV lights. Invisible UV paint is only visible under UV lights, so you can make something appear like magic. And then LED lighting tech is constantly advancing and becoming more cost effective giving us even more flexibility and reliability for cool effects. Rapid Growth turns 18! My thoughts on The solutions could be right next door…and nearly a 100 years old: "G-Sync: Diversity Matters in Muskegon" Created in 2012, this piece exemplifies one of solutions journalism's best qualities: the power of observation and learning. In this case, we witness the transformative journey of the Muskegon Museum of Art (MMA), illustrating its commitment to intentional community engagement and inclusive practices. A blend of personal narrative and historical exploration allows broader themes of representation, diversity, and societal progress to emerge. The story's significance resonates deeply in its timeless relevance. By centering on a topic that has become quite the norm, this story on the MMA's deliberate efforts to diversify its collection invites us to create space for introspection on the role of cultural institutions lifted for their legacy of inclusivity and community representation. Ultimately, it reaffirms the transformative power of art to bridge divides, challenge perceptions, and cultivate a space where a shared sense of belonging awaits those who slow down to observe. - Tommy Allen, Publisher Rapid Growth Media LINK: https://lnkd.in/eqgWbSt4 #SolutionsJournalism #Muskegon #SolutionsJournalismNetwork #RapidGrowth

Communication and Public Affairs at NRECA and Principal at ANP Communications Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.
I am sharing info about a personal interest - public art. I'm so passionate about this that I wrote an article about public art's impact on local communities, particularly rural ones. I'm in awe of the efforts of local co-ops to help their local communities by supporting public art projects. Murals are the low-hanging fruit of economic development and often are the catalyst for larger projects. This article highlights the efforts of several co-ops. In particular, major kudos to Marian Douglas McLemore, APR, CCC, MCC, CKAE, from Flint Energies for creating the Rural Murals program at her co-op. #nreca #publicart #ruraldevelopment #ruralcommunities #muralart

This CBS Sunday Morning story caught my eye. Bernd and Hilla Becher’s industrial art shows that unremarkable structures can be works of art. I couldn't agree more. As an AEC marketer, I try to elevate construction into art and a powerful brand, transforming the "ordinary to extraordinary" with photos. We do that with our talented, professional photographer, Clair Verret, who has this to say after watching this short piece of history: "What a beautiful display of history. I’m always drawn to light and dark coming together with lines and texture all to form something so intriguing to the eye. Photography means “to write with light.” I think in a world so inundated with comparison, social media… aesthetic etc., it’s easy to jump in and try to just imitate what’s popular. I see that a lot, especially in the photography industry. This project is so beautiful because one, it’s clear it was this couple’s life work and passion. And two, it’s so simple. Nothing extravagant. Nothing forced. Nothing trying to be anything other than what it is. And for the most part, everyday places that most don’t give a passing glimpse to. This project has shed the most beautiful kind of light. These represent people and places that were foundational in where we are today." Well said Clair. Very much like my clients. They do a job. Build structures. "Nothing forced. Nothing trying to be anything other than what it is." We try to capture the essence of that simplicity and identity. A company's true brand and reputation. #BrandIdentity #GetCreative #BuildingisArt Watch two min CBS video below: https://lnkd.in/g7GpePjM

This looks like a great idea, a self-guided public art trail through Downtown LA! (What I like right off the bat is that it doesn't require downloading or using a special app.) Conceptually, it is similar to the #FreedomTrail running through Boston's historic core (https://lnkd.in/g-qWPxYJ). Established over 70 years ago!, this trail not only guides you through history, but also helps you find your way through Boston's disorienting organic street network. It's kind of like an urban lifeline. I am really curious to test this virtual one out, because I proposed we do something similar in El Segundo.* What I'm most interested in understanding is: 1. Whether this leads you to explore new places and businesses. There should be an economic component, not just a voyeuristic one... kind of part of the mission of public art and entertainment. (They have stopping points at some venues labeled “Trail-Mix,” but it feels forced, too specific.) 2. How it shapes your spatial understanding of the urban fabric, if it does at all. Clearly, a virtual guide is not as tangible as a line embedded in the sidewalk, but LA may be too spread out for lines on sidewalks. —————— *At one of our El Segundo Arts & Culture Advisory Committee meetings, I proposed we do something like this, because as I started working on creating a map of public art in our small city through the #PublicArtArchive, I realized there are quite a number of artworks here. We have, for example, 3 (out of 14) Green Line Metro rail stops just in our small, 5.5 square mile city, and each one has several artworks in them. And many commercial developers have been adding interesting pieces to their properties since the #percentforart program was established 4 years ago (https://lnkd.in/gFsDRsaB), though some has also been naturally happening before that or separate from it. Honestly, there are way more public artworks in El Segundo than anybody realizes. #publicart #urbanism #urbandesign #urbancore #trail #arttrail #economicdevelopment #spatial #virtual #dtla #downtown #losangeles #elsegundo
