They are also referred to as EMI/RFI suppression capacitors. 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Class-X Capacitors: Positioned between the AC line and neutral. Class-Y Capacitors: Positioned between the line and ground.
