It is with a very heart to say that development of Scelestus Chronicles and any work from Vaelynn Studios will cease immediately. Due to financial changes in my personal life it is no longer feasible to continue funding. Additionally, I will direct my personal attention towards matters that are rooted more in my expertise and immediate goals for the time being. That being both my recertification of my PMP and obtaining my MBA. I will take time off from game development indefinitely, potentially permanently. Instead, I will assist my wife in some of her goals of obtaining financial independence / growing her own initiatives. The discord server will continue to exist and I won't take anyone's rights away to go back and look or talk about all the things we accomplished. Furthermore the scelestusgame.com site will remain online and all prototypes remain playable (feel free to DM me for a link). There won't be an NDA, so the development team can show off the work they have been doing. It is likely that our Articy server, due to its high cost, will be taken down by June. I will ensure I have various backups of all the things we created and will see if the server can be archived/recovered/exported in the future (for maybe historic and/or future purposes). If not, well at least I have the exported files and it can be put back together in the future one way or another. This is not a choice made lightly. As some might know I have put a tremendous amount into Scelestus' production over the course of 18 months. At this point estimates point that even by the time we are 100% done with the game that the entire production cost would have been about $600k which means that we would need to sell a lot of copies just to break even. I do not think any of this was wasted time, as with my various previous start-up businesses I learned a ton in the 18 months. In the end, I chewed off more than I could handle (financially), but also obviously a lot of long nights were put into this throughout the months. I'm not burnt out, luckily we managed well to avoid crunch and such. However, I do feel I need to step away and focus within the next few years on my existing career and will probably, if at all, consider game development more as a hobby moving forward. At this point I won't talk further about this matter, so I appreciate if you could give me time and space on that matter. While I'm saddened it came to this, don't worry about me. Overall I'm happy and satisfied with having taken the chance as it allowed me to learn a lot about myself. I will continue to dream and one day surely pick up again Scelestus one way or another. As some know, it is too embedded in my personal journey and is very close to me on a profound level - not just as some business idea. In the meanwhile, I will continue to play video games, continue my professional education and spend more time with my family and hobbies (I have like 30-ish Gunpla to assemble, I kid you not, lol).
