Earlier this month, Stanton Williams generously hosted our latest Sessions event! We hosted 40 young creatives from underrepresented backgrounds for an evening of mentoring, informal networking, and an insightful office tour. It was fantastic to see their studio space reimagined as a place of learning, collaboration, and opportunity. — Thank you again to Maz Weineck, Danielle Noble, Ali Abbas and Alexandra Learmonth for making the event possible, and to the wonderful Stanton Williams mentors — Barbara Clark, Nick Sinden, Ben Yeates, Tom Shell, Anne Fehrenbach, Marie Abela, Nieves Valle, Stephen Setford, Ismael Heras and Patrick Richard — for their invaluable support. Additionally, we extend our gratitude to; Hammad Haider from Foster + Partners; Jim Pope from Kilburn Nightingale Architects Ltd; Aditi Agrawal from HFM; Grisilda Kalci from Fathom Architects Joe Slatter from studio enemy as well as Shazia Dhalla and Yara Taha and, of course, our fantastic Narrative Practice team. — NP: Since March 2020, we have engaged with over 800 individuals, and it’s partnerships like these that keep our community growing. Best, Dhruv & the Sessions Team 🙏🏽 #MentoringMatters #DiversityInArchitecture #EDI #InclusionMatters #WomenLeaders #DesignDiversity #EmpoweringYouth

Committed to transforming practices within our professional community, NCNOMA and AIANC have partnered to elevate diversity, equity and inclusion. Our goal is to identify, encourage and celebrate environments where all architects in North Carolina belong, especially those marginalized by the field and systems of inequity. As outlined in the MOU established between the two organizations in 2020, we seek to influence change by providing resources that encourage tangible change. We are taking the next step forward by launching the Equity and Inclusion Challenge and Award. In advance of the 2025 award, a year-long Equity and Inclusion Challenge acts as a voluntary call to action for all architecture and design firms around the state. The challenge includes monthly recommendations and resources for participants to take actionable steps to move the needle forward. We are not looking for perfection, but we are looking to celebrate progress. Visit the ncnoma website to learn more and commit to the challenge.

DesignForce has long stood as a sanctuary for AEC professionals, providing a secure space where professionals can feel empowered to speak freely about their unique journeys and challenges navigating their careers within the built environment. Rooted in a mission to positively impact the lives of those who work within the built environment, our foundation has always been built upon the principles of respect, understanding, and empowerment. Now, more than ever, we aim to elevate discussions surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the built environment. Over the past few months, DesignForce has had the pleasure of sitting down with AEC trailblazers Jessica Bantom, Yiselle Santos Rivera, AIA, SHRM-SCP, NOMA, NAAB, WELL AP, Jared M. Green, PE, BC. GE, F.ASCE, NOMA, Chris Wilson, and Jeremiah Watts and picking their brains about their experiences with DEI within the greater built environment. The need to elevate and honor the experiences of all that touch this industry is ever critical. By amplifying these crucial discussions, we aim to catalyze positive change and cultivate a more inclusive built environment where every voice is heard and valued. Hopefully the experiences of these various industry leaders will inspire you to not only be a part of the dialogue but also, a part of the solution.
