Mobilising for Missions: Crystalisr 'Community of Practice knowledge exchange call on Thursday - Join in!
2025 is truly going to be a make-or-break year.
Across all 5 pillars (or ‘principles’) of community wealth building, Crystalisr will be taking action to help implement the ‘5 Missions’ and relevant milestones that the UK electorate voted for last July.
They were reaffirmed in a televised presentation by Keir Starmer on 5th December, and they are:
1 - Kickstart economic growth (income growth)
2 - Build an NHS fit for the future (reduced waiting times)
3 - Safer streets (neighbourhood police)
4 - Break down the barriers to opportunity (early years education)
5 - Make Britain a clean energy superpower (clean power)
The #communitywealthbuilding approach can be applied to all five missions, through:
1. Workforce – improving access to labour markets and career pathways
2. Spending – helping SMEs to be fit to supply, winning contracts and employing more people
3. Land and Property – Not permitting rent and business rates costs to stand in the way of generative renewal
4. Finance – Building out the ‘entrepreneurial state’ (ref. Marianna Mazzucato) and ensuring the capital markets respond to the climate emergency and the other challenges expressed in the Missions.
5. Ownership - Reducing financial ‘extraction; doubling the size of the co-operative and mutual sector and increasing employee ownership and local economic resilience.
As a multi-stakeholder co-operative and an honest broker bringing together buyers and sellers in the supply chain, Crystalisr is in a unique position to facilitate community wealth building.
As well as member-led projects in health and green economy, and ongoing research and policy advice, the member-led programme of events for 2025 includes:
1) Monthly knowledge exchange in the Community of Practice, (next session is this Thursday at 2.00pm, register here https://lnkd.in/enmVSV3t
2) Courses in Meeting the Challenge - Mission-Oriented Community Wealth Building (in planning for second week of February)
3) Developing Career-Pathways for Mission fulfilment
4) Getting fit-to-supply and knowing your buyers and procurement opportunities
5) Action on Land and Property
6) Financing South London Ventures - Creating Democratic Ownership via Trade Associations.
