To any SME connections in my network, see below
We Asked. You Told Us. We Listened. When building the Good Growth in Practice programme, we spoke to diverse-led SME owners about the challenges they face in growing sustainably. Now, we’re building a programme that responds directly to their needs: 🏗️ Early-Stage Foundations: strong networks, access to paid work with clear routes to commissions, critical business development guidance and administrative support. 📈 Growth-Stage Support: finding and retaining aligned senior talent, better business forecasting, professional development pathways. That’s why we’re creating a programme that delivers: 💫 Practical Solutions: direct access to public & private sector clients, expert-led applied business development masterclasses, operational systems and templates. 🤝 Real Connections: client mentorship and sponsorship, peer support networks and industry partnerships, collaborative opportunities. This isn’t just another support programme—it’s built WITH practices, not FOR them. The future needs a different kind of built environment professional, and we’re designing a curriculum at The London School of Architecture to empower them. Supported by the Greater London Authority & The Crown Estate Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eiW3Gr83 #CurriculumForChange #Architecture #Innovation #Equity #PracticeGrowth #BusinessDevelopment #GoodGrowth

Learning from the Elders: A Mentoring Series by the Nigerian Institute of Architects Today, I had the privilege of attending an insightful session titled "Learning from the Elders"—a mentoring series hosted by the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA). The event featured Arc.Titilayo Adeleye fnia and the NIA President, Arc. Mobolaji Adeniyi who shared invaluable perspectives on the importance of mentorship in the architectural profession. Arc.Mobolaji Adeniyi emphasized that mentorship is not just about having someone to guide you, but about finding a mentor who can support you through the various stages of your career. Arc.Mobolaji Adeniyi also shared a personal story from her early days working with an Israeli company, where she spent much of her time focusing on staircase details. At the time, she felt this was beneath her qualifications, but looking back, she is grateful for that experience. It was during this phase that she learned the importance of precision and patience, which has greatly contributed to her professional fulfillment today. Her message to us, the young architects, was clear: Find mentors. Connect. Learn. Through mentorship, we can navigate the complexities of architecture and accelerate our growth. The wisdom and guidance we receive from experienced mentors can help us reach our full potential and achieve success at any level. As we continue our journey in architecture, let’s remember that every phase—whether big or small—contributes to our development. The path to greatness is shaped not only by what we know, but by who we learn from. #Mentorship #Architecture #LearningFromTheElders #YoungArchitects #NIA #ProfessionalGrowth

Mentoring young architects, teaching soft skills, building company culture developing communities and promoting minorities in the profession, Lise Bornstein, AIA, Partner at KFA Architecture, talks shop with Christian Giordano, AIA, Mancini Duffy. Stressing the importance of teaching practical business knowledge, she states, “You can be a phenomenal problem solver, designer and detailer, but if you don’t know how to market, if your soft skills are lacking, if you don’t know how to resent, listen, communicate and budget your time effectively, then that (design/problem solving) talent is not as effective as can be. “ Explaining why her 75-person firm has chosen to essentially stick the Los Angeles market, their belief is that architects are best poised to serve communities if they are actually living in those communities. Another interesting fact about KFA is that they are more than 50 percent female. She notes that the key here is having people in leadership to represent the diversity you’re seeking for a firm. She laments the fact that in the U.S., just 35 percent of women are licensed and 7 percent are partners. And for minorities, these numbers are much lower. Wrapping up the interview, Bornstein states, “As we build out our cities to be livable spaces, as architects, our most important role is to make sure we are listening and being an advocate for the human experience in our cities.” #architecture #DEI #urbanevelopment #buildingdesign

I paused Adventa's #FutureOfUs Tour yesterday, to join the amazing Constructive Futures team for a coffee morning in Leeds, as they helped students prepare for the opportunity that is UKREiiF's event in Leeds next week. With a welcomed guest Evan Morse who was keen to network on all things Architecture Did you know we need 1 in 5 school leavers to join the construction industry? No me neither! and clearly some work to be done to address the challenge here. I meet some amazing people and listened to inspiring and motivating speeches from the Constructive Futures Leadership Team Natalie Sarabia-Johnston and Jenny Kitchen as they supported the students. Which got me thinking more about how future tech might help address the challenge and also encourage more people to join the construction industry, as the future of work evolves..... lots of ideas and a video to follow soon. 100% follow these guys, to see the amazing work they do in supporting young people and wider diversity and inclusion agendas...And not forgetting the incredible support from a range of brilliant learning mentors and career advisors all supporting this outstanding initiative. ....oh and they do this all above and beyond their day jobs 👏🏻 Good Luck to all the Student at the event itself next week.... I hope you make some great connections 👊🏻 #construction #FutureOfUs #youthdevelopment #futuretalent #architecture Video Description - A short reel of me heading to a construction future event in Leeds city centre. With footage from the coffee morning event and view across the Leeds city landscape… which is a continuous building site.
