You will be part of a strategic sales team responsible for acquiring, retaining, and growing dealership businesses. Who makes a better product? The Product Manager or the Sales Manager? During my three years at Refrens I’ve worn many hats and talked to all kinds of clients. But one of the coolest parts of my job has been getting involved in product development, even though I’m a Sales Head. At Refrens, we’ve got this awesome culture where everyone chips in to make the product better. Our product managers understand that balancing revenue goals and user experience is the key and work closely with the sales team to nail it. It’s not just encouraged—it’s how we roll. Recently, our sales team pitched a feature that we thought would drive a lot of revenue. Despite having other features on deck, this one got fast-tracked. Why? Because there’s a solid trust and collaboration between the product and sales teams. The result? A noticeable jump in product revenue and better conversion rates. Proof that our approach works! This experience has shown me that the best products come from combining different perspectives and shared goals. Here, being a Sales Manager means being a part of the product’s journey from idea to launch. When you’ve helped shape the product, selling it feels natural. Have you seen it??????? An individual gets promoted into a Sales Management role, leading a Sales Team. What is their primary responsibility? Isn't it to meet the team quota number?? That is the main responsibility of the role. So they have in their minds, how they want to manage and how they want each Salesperson to conduct themselves activity wise. The tragic mistake and unfortunately, I have seen this play out over and over is that many of these "Sales Managers" want everyone on the team to behave in the same way, for example, 40 calls a day. The major problem with this is that if you have a superstar rep, that has been crushing their quota forever, is that many of these new gung-ho sales managers want to change the way that they work! This is the very height of ignorance but unfortunately this is what many do! If you know why this is done, then please enlighten me, I have NEVER, understood this!! It's wrong, it creates bad morale and is extremely counterproductive and very often destructive!
