Music and singing is so therapeutic.
As the So Many Beauties dementia-friendly music festival gets underway at The Bridgewater Hall this morning, our musician Jenny sang a beautiful excerpt of Madame Butterfly live on BBC Breakfast. The music holds a special place in Anne's heart, who had included it in her Playlist for Life 💚🎶 #JoyThroughLiveMusic #MusicforDementia #SoManyBeautiesMusic

Even in #middleage, I still love a good festival. A time to catch up with friends, discover new artists, and connect with different cultures. Plus, there's nothing like a little boogie with people you don't know to let loose. 💃 So, it's disheartening to see so many music festivals in #Australia collapsing! The aftermath of the #pandemic, soaring ticket prices, #environmental challenges, and a shift in younger #generations thoughts around multi-day events have led to a wave of major festivals cancelling across the country. Where does this leave the future of live music in Australia? What changes can we expect or need? Well Kara Ortiga with the help of Samuel Whiting from the University of South Australia and Simone Schinkel CEO at Music Victoria discussed some of this and more in our latest report. How can they continue to build on the shared interest of audiences, but also accommodate more niche tastes. How might they offer more flexibility with payment options, helping with #financialplanning and more than ever, how can they speak to the needs of #anxiousyouths I really do hope they can find the solutions, because some of my best memories involve a field, limited hygiene practices and being surrounded by friends, both old and very very new.

What do you do after work, I asked you last year, remember?👀 Turns out we shared (much too) many music together after work last year, both in Milan and far from it! To give you some perspective, we did: 60+ concerts, 15+ venues, 4+ states, 2+ classical music festivals and met many new friends from all around the world. Thank you for that - 2023/2024 was quite a music ride with you!🏇 So, as the new concert season opens, sharing now here my 2024/2025 (not just classical) music program: it works the same as last year, although with some improvements. Two preliminary notes to set the tone: 1. We will be listening to a LOT of Ravel, as 2025 marks 150 years since his birth (that's a good thing, if you ask me). 2. My goal for 2025 is to learn French, so when "touring" outside Milan for concerts, we should (collectively) try focusing more on French speaking territories, oui?👀🇫🇷 Have a look and let me know when/where am I seeing you! Ciao

Very useful to have these short clips from the House of Lords debate around art and culture, including this one from Lord Cashman - thanks Campaign for the Arts for covering this important topic so well!
“We must keep our theatres, music venues and libraries open. They are not luxuries.” Michael Cashman said that the arts have a transformational impact on people's lives, and "speak of the kind of civilised, open country that we are – or we could become".
