Thanks to the generous support of our community, Boss Women Matter (BWM) Round Table Talks have become a vital resource for Black women founders in Chicagoland. These open dialogues are a lifeline for Black women founders and serve as a cornerstone for community building, policy advocacy, and capacity building. While substantial progress has been made, the journey to economic equality for Black women founders remains challenging. Despite persistent systemic funding disparities to underrepresentation, our expanding community of founders is steadfast in their commitment to overcoming these barriers and creating a more equitable economic landscape. Never before has our work been more critical. By dismantling these obstacles, we not only empower individuals but also uplift entire communities. Each Black woman founder supported is a beacon of hope, illuminating a brighter future for us all. So today we invite you to make an impact with a powerful statement of support. Your contribution will not only help us expand our Round Table Talks, but provide mentorship, and advocate for policies. Together, we can empower the next generation of Black women entrepreneurial leaders. Will you join us in creating a brighter future? Donate now to support Black women founders. https://lnkd.in/g_ZJZZhq Not on our email list? Join us by subscribing below! https://lnkd.in/gkZF3xEA

Starting 2024 with gratitude for what's to come this year. A change maker is someone who rather than talk takes action, someone who advocates for others even when they are not in the room, someone who uses their social capital and influence to do the right thing. I hope to live up to that expectation and hold my values with integrity and humility. I am a servant, nothing more. Welcome 2024 and all the lessons ahead. #leadership #latina #gratitude https://lnkd.in/eqnec6PF

A great example of the gender multiplier effect here! These women business owners are great role models for their families! Statistics show that, on average, women-owned businesses give back to their communities creating a competitive advantage by incorporating cause marketing. “By linking their brand and marketing to a cause, they can boost customer awareness, drive sales, burnish their reputation, give back to the community, and lower marketing costs, all at the same time,” ‒ help nonprofits and corporations implement cause-marketing programs #gendermultipliereffect

One of the greatest disservice one can do to themselves is surround themselves is to surround themselves with "yes" people. While no one is suggesting filling your inner circle with contrarians, Iya important to have people around you who are not afraid to "check" you if you need checking. Find you a truth teller. For some, that's a friend, colleague or mentor. For others that may look like hiring an Executive Coach who helps identify your blindspots and holds you accountable to your goals. However you get them, get someone who is not afraid to tell you the truth. Your leadership depends upon it.
Standing in awe as Mellody Hobson, Co-CEO & President Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Ariel Investment Trust, accepts the Legacy Award at the Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit. Her message is clear: amidst the allure of power, it's crucial to discern between flattery and truth. #BEWPS

Women supporting women. It's a superpower and one that moves mountains. Here's an incredible woman to read about... Alicia Kidd aspired to create a unique space in Oakland for wine lovers and become the first Black woman-owned wine shop in the area. Her vision extended beyond offering great wines; she aimed to support and showcase women and BIPOC winemakers through her online shop, The Wine Noire established in 2017. However, Alicia faced significant challenges in opening her physical store, including underfunding, inflation, and increased labor and material costs. Alicia turned to CNote CDFI Partner, Pacific Community Ventures (PCV) for support. PCV provided a crucial loan, helping Alicia cover expenses to realize her dream. Alicia is now the proud founder of Coco Noir Wine Shop & Bar. Our goal at CNote is to make it easy to invest in one another again. That includes investing in our communities. Investing in underestimated founders and families. And let us remember: women drive progress. Invest with intention.
