Nashville Physical Therapy & Performance’s Post

Do I really need a rest day? ABSOLUTELY! Rest days are just as important as exercise. In fact, a solid fitness regimen isn’t complete without one. Taking regular breaks allows your body to recover and repair. Not only does rest allow for physical recovery, but also prevents injury and muscle fatigue, improves strength and sport performance, increases mood and mental focus, supports healthy sleep, and promotes weight loss. Rest days don't have to be a lazy day spent in your pj's (although you're allowed to grant yourself that time). Rest can include any of the following: 💜Working different muscle groups 💜Yoga, Stretching, Mobility 💜Active Recovery Day 💜Light cardio exercise 💜Take a walk and enjoy the sunshine 💜Reading a good book   Skipping rest days can lead to overtraining or burnout. Rest is a critical part of progress, no matter where you are in your fitness journey. Remember, without enough breaks, you’re less likely to achieve the goals you made in the first place. Letting your body rest is the best thing you can do for fitness success!! We are here to help you at any point of your fitness journey...whether you are building strength, improving performance, improving recovery, or preventing injury. #RestDay #ActiveRecovery #KeepingActivePeopleActive #ChoosePT
