Hello LinkedIn community! ✨ What if I told you the way to nurture the planet, is to nurture yourself? 💪 Our outer world is a reflection of our inner 🌎 : The more we be and ❤️ ourselves, the more we see 👀 it around us and in future generations, and it is reflected in what we comsume and how we treat others. Being the month of mental health awareness (thank you Courtney Dornell for the reminder), I think this is a perfect segway for this conversation. As we continue to open our hearts ❤️ with faith 🙏 and follow our passions, it will inspire and create a ripple effect on every aspect of our lives (health 🏃 , wealth 💰 , environment 🌏 ,and love 💗 ). It starts with small habits and pivots. You can teach yourself (we are a compilation of many habits) to be present and breathe life into your decisions. 🫁 When you see something that bothers you, take a slow, deep breath, and feel the energy of your dreams. Use the boost of energy to create something amazing with the tools and resources available (look up and around and follow your heart - you will have more than you need to create something beautiful or peaceful). PS. Aligning to your authentic self, being happy, healthy, and following your passions is more than a possible and totally awesome! What you dream is possible. What you believe is probable. 💥 Most of the people we admire or inspire us, have done just this. (For all my science friends, you can actually chart your caloric inputs and outputs to see why your reality is as such, similar to a force diagram or a fitness app for food and excercise). Thank you for being you and amazing! Love, AM

Quality over quantity. Patagonia has a sense of humor and they’re not afraid to show it. This satirical campaign points out the consequences of modern material excess, compared to human consumption habits since the dawn of our species. Point is, there is only so much planet; only so many usable (uncontaminated) resources we can access. The biggest threat to sustaining humanity for a few thousand more years is the bohemoth leviathan-sized elephant in the room—we produce more waste than the planet can handle, and it’s what we buy that drives the process. Buy better. Buy less. Design better. Make less. Well-made, well-designed goods cost more for a reason—they last longer, work better, save you time, energy, and effort, and chances are, they’re actually better, and healthier for you. The catch—even tho the best rarely costs less, there’s still a ton of expensive shit out there that never deserves to have been made. Consume wisely, my friends. Earth day is every day.

Slightly different from my usual posts on the future of the energy system, but this really caught my attention. It amazes me just how much 'stuff' we consume these days. I was introduced to 'Teemu' at the weekend (probably a long time after the rest of the world knew about it!) and was told 'it's great, it's just the same as Amazon but everything is cheaper'. But we don't seem to ever stop and think - do we need all of this 'stuff'? Where has it come from? What impact is this having on the planet? And why is it cheaper...? Perhaps having recently become a father I see it more acutely than others - babies certainly mean more 'stuff'. But we need to find a way to break this march of endless consumerism. I don't know if that's through taking more personal responsibility for what we consume, or it's through regulation, or through more responsible business. It's probably a combination of all of the above.

Are brands Pushers? Dealers? There is a load of crap being produced out there, more than we would ever consume. We have been collectively asking for more, though not as much as they are making and throwing away. If we don't want to be thought of as mindless consumers, we need to be clients. Discerning ones at that. Let's reframe. Connect the Carbon Dots The Carbon Almanac #factsconnectionaction

a must watch maybe to be read together with Oliver Franklin-Wallis #Wasteland including these numbers in his book: the average UK person generates 1.1 kg of waste every day (!), the average US person 2 kg of #waste every day.... and the solid waste industry contributes 5 per cent of all global #greenhousegas emissions, and this does not include #food waste, estimated to contribute between 8-10 % alone of total #emissions!
