FIPI researchers Ginny McCarthy, MPH, MDiv, and Erin Wright Kelly, DrPH, MA, attended the HAND IN HAND MULTICULTURAL CENTER gun violence forum this past weekend in Springfield, Missouri. The center brought together four different minority groups to hear concerns on gun violence. The forum conversations were guided based on a project FIPI facilitated through the Missouri Foundation for Health. The aim of the study was to support two Missouri communities to develop tailored data collection methods and tools used to facilitate community conversations to understand how local community members perceive firearm injury and violence and identify ways in which the communities may collectively prevent firearm injury and death in the future. KY3 Inc. (KYTV) news interviewed Ginny about the study and the forum. "The point of the conversation today is to say, 'This is what we found across groups, this is what we found by groups, and what can we do with that information?'"
