This is the 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 (CSRD), the European regulation that came into force in January 2024. ⚖️ The CSRD introduces the ESRS (𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀), a set of 12 harmonized standards companies must follow for non-financial reporting. These standards cover 4 main topics: 2 cross-cutting standards (ESRS 1 and 2) and 10 topical standards focused on environmental (E1 to E5), social (S1 to S4), and governance (G1) aspects. 🧩 The 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 are at the cornerstone of the CSRD, providing a comprehensive framework for companies to report on their sustainability performance and impacts. We are pleased to be among the first providers endorsing the Code of Conduct for ESG Ratings and Data Providers initiated by the Financial Conduct Authority.    Developed by the ESG Data and Ratings Working Group of the ICMA - International Capital Market Association and International Regulatory Strategy Group, it outlines six internationally applicable principles aiming to foster a trusted, efficient, and transparent market through clear standards.    The code represents a major leap forward in addressing the shortcomings of the ESG data and ratings industry. June was a month of significant regulatory updates from European authorities, with a focus on sustainability and corporate reporting: 📊 #SFDR: New Joint Opinion from European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs)     - The ESAs have released a joint opinion to enhance the implementation of the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR). This aims to provide greater clarity and improve the effectiveness of disclosures related to sustainable investments, ensuring more transparency and comparability across the financial sector. 📄 #CSRD: Review of Consultation Feedback on ESRS Taxonomy     - The European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (#EFRAG) has completed a review of the consultation feedback on the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (#ESRS) taxonomy. The feedback highlights the importance of developing a robust taxonomy to facilitate accurate and consistent sustainability reporting. 📈 CSRD: Latest CSRD Q&A Publication     - EFRAG has published new Q&A documents addressing the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). These publications aim to clarify various aspects of the CSRD, assisting companies in understanding and complying with the upcoming reporting requirements. 🔍 EFRAG: Latest Updates on CSRD Q&A and Implementation Guidelines     - In addition to the Q&A, EFRAG has released updated implementation guidelines for the CSRD. The CSRD is currently creating a lot of buzz in the market, with EU firms preparing for the first reporting cycle. Although this is a reporting obligation, acting on the reported information will be the next step. This is where the CSDDD will pick up where the CSRD left off. The first disclosures under CSRD are due in almost one year ! 🔁 To be sure to reach this target and comply with the regulation, companies need to perform a first a very key exercise: the DOUBLE MATERIALITY ASSESSMENT. 🆕 Thus, companies will not only report the impact of the environment on their financial performance (financial materiality) but also they will account for the IMPACT OF THEIR OWN ACTIVITIES on environment and society (impact materiality)! 📈To do so, companies need to follow up a specific and common framework around 12 topics – called ESRS - that covers key ESG dimensions. The Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets AFM supports issuers by presenting 10 waypoints, based on the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (#ESRS) and good practices in the annual reporting of some listed issuers. Hanzo van Beusekom, AFM board member: 'Comprehensible and transparent communication on double materiality is important, because this is the cornerstone for proper sustainability reporting. Our review shows that it can be done! Our research has delivered 10 waypoints that anyone can benefit from either when conducting or using the double materiality analysis.' The AFM report includes a list of pointers for companies to help ensure they are meeting the #doublemateriality requirements. 🔹Stakeholder engagement: show the manner in which #stakeholders are engaged 1. Be transparent on the representativeness of stakeholder engagement 2. Disclose inputs received from stakeholders 🔹Due diligence: identify the sustainability matters 3.
