Hey connections, recently I had my first online hackathon which was organised by the dev-soc community(BACK-TECH HACKATHON).  Our team (IDEAL LAKERS) comprising of only two members me(Swarup Goswami) being the Team leader and my peer(Rishikesh Sharma). with our constant efforts ,creativity and cooperative mind we made the DEV-SOC (Our project website) based on the theme of "serving the community". the motives of our website(DEV-SOC) are:- 👉 Tells you about the dev-soc community and its motive. 👉 keeps you updated about all the upcoming events of the dev-soc community. 👉 Tells you the the location (venue) of the upcoming event 👉 Gives you a brief description about the event speaker and their respective domains. 👉 The website has a map inside its location section that gives the user detailed information. 👉 The website has a subscription section where the users can subscribe us . 👉 it also contains a FAQ section to ask any query related to the event. do let us know if you have any suggestion that can enhance our project. your valuable feedback is highly appreciated. We had our first "Riedel hour" at OHack. Jason, a former OHack Judge, community-minded person, that is a mentor, founder, and lover of all things tech spoke with as many teams as he could within an hour specifically focused on their presentations. This team in the photo took home 1st place. Our top 3 favorite areas that Jason focused his feedback on: 1. The judging criteria - talk about how you solved the nonprofit problem according to the judging criteria. 2. Leave out superfluous things - like authentication (everyone knows what login and OAuth is). Use your demo time wisely - you have 4 minutes of video airtime, don't spend 30 seconds introducing the team or 2 minutes talking about your database. 3. Start thinking about your presentations early, likely earlier than Riedel Hour (which was 2 hours before the end of the hackathon). This will help you think about the scope (too much or too little), complexity, and plausibility that you'll finish an MVP. You can build the most amazing thing, but if you can't explain it to anyone - does it really exist? Photo Credit: Bryon Keck
