I'm super excited about the program next week at the NTWK Summit in Barcelona, Spain. There have been many meetings about in Europe about circularity and about the power of platform business models. However, they have previously been treated separately. This is the first time that circularity and platforms will be brought together for a conversation among Europe's leading enterprises, practitioners, startups and scholars. Why is this important? The circular economy cannot scale effectively without circular platforms and digital marketplaces. The circularity gap (https://lnkd.in/gV3ipfwp) cannot be closed without better mechanisms to match buyers and sellers within and across industries. Digital product passports are valuable, but they do not create network effects on their own. They need digital marketplaces to power flywheel effects. The circular economy must have #reverselogistics firing on all cylinders. Finally, there must be incentives for product redesign that favors repair and lowers the cost of recycling. #Circularplatforms can provide these incentives. 🌟News Alert! We are excited to announce the kick-off of “Undress Circularity”, a major #collaborative #industry project to assess the #impact of #circularbusinessmodels! Over the following year, Circularity will lead the joint project and work with Fraunhofer IZM and SYSTEMIQ Deutschland GmbH and 12 industry partners to develop a methodological framework and practical guide to assess the environmental impact of rental, repair and second-hand business models in the consumer electronics sector. The industry partners, namely Grover, rebuy, Everphone, Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, Assurant, Foxway Group, Reverse Logistics Group (RLG), Ingram Micro, Recommerce Group, circulee, and FixFirst - The OS for Circular Services & Products will contribute practical expertise and proprietary data and ensure the development of a robust framework based on real industry insights. DBU Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt and Deloitte support the project as strategic partners and our associated partners, including ETH Zürich - SusTec, Circular Electronics Partnership, Energy Impact Partners, Circularity Capital, WWF and DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e. V. ensure consideration of broader stakeholder perspectives.
