"The price of space solar cells, which eat up satellite production costs, has been significantly lowered." 🛰️ Solar cells account for as much as 50% of the cost of manufacturing a satellite. CEO Ahn Tae-hoon of Flexelspace: 💵“We will reduce the price by 60% and achieve 30% efficiency” 🎙️Interview with CEO Ahn Tae-hoon of Flexelspace.] Date: 2024.02.19 Reporter: Song Bok-gyu - Chosun Biz article. 📝 Thank you to Sean Yim for this interesting share! __________ Excerpt: 'Hanwha has stepped up to create inexpensive and efficient solar cells.  Flexelspace is an in-house venture of Hanwha Systems and is developing perovskite solar cells for space. Perovskite solar cells are metal oxides that are a mixture of organic and inorganic materials, and has the properties of a semiconductor, insulator, and conductor. Perovskite can be made through a chemical reaction that is simpler and cheaper than silicon batteries, and since it is in a solution state, it becomes a bendable battery when applied to a plastic film.'
