There is this narrative that fisheries electronic monitoring #technology, especially #artificialintelligence and #machinelearning, is not mature, that it requires more study or review, or that it is not effective/efficient enough. It should be no surprise that narrative is driven by the industry that would face increased scrutiny and regulation as a result of implementation and scaling of that technology. The rapid advancement of these collective technologies are proving that narrative specious. #starlink is a gamechanger alongside the application of #AI and #edgecomputing for fisheries that operate far from shore with minimal oversight.

SDA is doing our part by providing a predictable marketplace that allows industry to be more effective and proactive. This article identifies some of the ways SDA offers a few benefits for industry, including: 1. Predictable acquisition cycles with new contracts issued every two years that help companies from primes to suppliers prepare. 2. Flexible contract methods, including Other Transaction Authority, that allow the office to better absorb the effects of budgetary anomalies, such as continuing resolutions. 3. "UFO/UAP reports were discussed consistently and extensively over the three decades of our study period. Media coverage and a host of “flying saucer” and “UFO” books published during this period created a well-established public image of UFO/UAP activities, their frequency and significance. The theme of UFOs/flying saucers as alien visitations became a standard topic in the entertainment industries and was so culturally embedded that books have been written about UFOs, and have been featured in news print, television, and movies. This work explores the extent to which the popular image is supported by the most credible official reports and private scientific investigations of the period.
