Over a third of neurodivergent workers had not received any guidance from employers, followed by 50% of employees have been off work during the last year because of neurodivergent-related challenges 🚨 These shocking figures underline the importance of making workplaces accessible and inclusive, and the need to raise this as a collective bargaining issue. Neurodiverse-accessible work conditions are a key to equality and fairness in the workplace. With equality at the core of Unite the Union's action, we recognise unions are vital to ensuring employers meet their responsibilities to their workers. Dan Smith, a rigger, crane supervisor and union rep working for Babcock International Group, has been putting the Equalities Strategy into action by pushing for reasonable adjustments required for employees with neurodiversity, to ensure they are supported as much as possible in the day-to-day delivery of their roles. We can all play our part in pushing this forward across workplaces. Reps can sign up to courses, such as the Unite Equalities course, in order to gain the confidence and knowledge to push for neurodiversity-accessible workplaces.
