🗑️ ♻️ 🚯 This July, zoos and aquariums across North America will participate in the Plastic Free Ecochallenge. This challenge lists dozens of ways you can help reduce plastic pollution, from replacing plastic goods with wood and metal alternatives to learning about fossil fuel policies. Participants can choose actions that best match their needs and lifestyles. We acknowledge that completely removing plastic from our lives is impossible. Instead, this Ecochallenge should help us embrace imperfection in sustainability efforts and inspire us to get involved with our communities and local governments. Are you curious about ocean plastic pollution prevention interventions? Maybe the tongue twister puts you off.. otherwise: Extended producer responsibility and the reduction of plastic usage (where sensible) are the obvious core of addressing the pollution challenge - but so as to start helping today - and for the waste fractions which have and will always slip through 'the net', the Circular Ocean-bound Plastic project is stepping in. Centred around the South Baltic region with a focus on the traditional maritime port hubs of Gdansk (PL), Malmo (SE), Rostock (DE) and Aarhus (DK), the project partners will: - Apply scientific and technical approaches to identify waste streams and fractions in chosen rivers; - Actually implement mechanical solutions to prevent river-based waste from escaping into the maritime environment and; - Involve small and medium sized enterprises in the collection, re-use and recycling of said waste. The data collected from the river litter output will also then be utilised to verify assumptions made on certain EU river waste estimates and provide an evidence-base to feed into the previously mentioned extended producer responsibility and reduction discussions. Avoid using plastic bottles at events like weddings and other gatherings to help the environment. Plastic bottles contribute to pollution, harm wildlife, and waste water in their production. Instead, provide steel glasses and jugs, which are reusable and eco-friendly. With a small funding effort, you can supply 1,000 steel glasses and 100 jugs, each bearing the logo of the sponsoring company, to each marriage hall. This simple switch can reach and inspire lakhs of people, significantly reducing waste and promoting sustainability. Start small, spread the word, and together, we can make a big difference for our planet. Say no to plastic bottles and choose sustainability.. I think this makes more impact in the world....

Spotlighting an interesting insight from our latest employee engagement campaign- despite a host of high integrity biodiversity and carbon sequestration projects to choose from, across all regions, our colleagues consistently voted for plastic removal from our oceans as a top concern. This insight validates the inclusion of plastic reduction as part of our Innovation with Purpose strategy. In the last two years we have worked closely with the passionate specialists at A Plastic Planet to audit our principal offices and create reduction plans as we target zero single use plastic in our offices by 2025. Based on the learnings from this campaign, HH Global will continue to champion initiatives that protect our oceans and inspire others to join us in this objective. #Sustainability #EmployeeEngagement #OceanConservation #GlobalImpact
Together, we are creating real positive change. This Earth Day, we highlighted our organizational-wide commitment to sustainability with an internal initiative that empowered our colleagues to make a real impact. This Earth Day, let's reflect on the staggering impact of plastic pollution and take action towards a sustainable future. According to a recent study in Science Advances, over the past 60 years, around eight billion tons of plastic has been produced, with a shocking 90.5% not being recycled. This year's Earth Day theme, "Planet vs. Plastic," calls for a 60% reduction in plastic production by 2040. At Prime Vision, we wholeheartedly support this initiative. That's why we’ve have chosen The Ocean Cleanup as beneficiary of our annual charity auction this year. We believe in supporting organizations dedicated to preserving our oceans and tackling plastic waste head-on. Last year, we had the privilege of supporting Cleanup Delft, further demonstrating our dedication to environmental sustainability. Additionally, we organize environmental cleanups for our employees, because we believe in leading by example and making a tangible difference. Together, we're working towards a cleaner, greener future for generations to come. Happy Earth Day! 🌎 #EarthDay #PlanetvsPlastic #Sustainability #PrimeVision #TheOceanCleanup #CleanupDelft

Such a powerful moment when you come to the realisation you can either remain part of the problem, or start the journey to developing a solution. Will you be a part of this journey? TYGRIS #marine #forestry #reducedowntime #sustainability
Did you know it’s Great British Beach Clean Week? Today, we wanted to spotlight a moment from several months ago that has shaped our journey toward sustainability. While participating in a beach clean-up, we came across a discarded TYGRIS cartridge that had been washed up on the shore. This find sparked an important conversation within our team about the environmental impact of waste in our industry. That moment planted the seed for innovation, and today, we’re excited to share the result: our biodegradable range, ONOS. This development represents our commitment to reducing waste and protecting our planet, one step at a time. https://lnkd.in/eRkxr47F

🌊🐋 Today we're celebrating #WorldOceansDay by asking: What do the oceans mean to you? 🐬🐟 We'll go first... For most of us at TOMRA Collection, the challenges facing our oceans, such as plastic pollution, are what get us out of bed in the morning. That's because around 80% of ocean plastic flows from sources on land, creating devastating impacts for marine life. And it's the biggest chunk of that plastic that our work seeks to impact: product packaging. In fact, TOMRA reverse vending solutions capture more than 46 billion used beverage containers every year for recycling and reuse, all across the globe, keeping them out of streets, rivers, landfills, and of course, oceans. But there's even more to this story! By keeping the kinds of materials that these containers are made from in a continuous loop of use and reuse, it's possible to drastically reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with them, while also ensuring that very few fresh resources are needed to make new containers. In this way, it's not just plastic pollution we're combating, but climate change too. When bottles and cans are used to make new bottles and cans, we call it Clean Loop Recycling. And there's one place that knows more about this process than any other... Considered the world role model for beverage container recovery and recycling, Norway’s deposit return system is one of the most efficient in the world. Less than 1% of beverage containers in Norway are littered, and only one in eight bottles that wash ashore on the Norwegian coastline actually come from Norway itself, the rest originate in neighboring countries. It's examples like this that keep us going. And why, at TOMRA, we're on a mission to spread the concept of Clean Loop Recycling around the world! 🌍 After all, as long as the containers keep coming, year on year, we need to be doing something about them, keeping them in the Clean Loop and out of our oceans. So that's our ocean story. But what's yours? Why not share it in the comments and let's make waves together! For more information about Clean Loop Recycling and how you can help in the fight against plastic waste, go to https://lnkd.in/dbdFaFi6. ♻️ #PlasticPollution #OceanProtection
