The contest is an annual opportunity for NADO member organizations to tell the story of their regions through images that capture the people and places that make their communities interesting places to live, work, and play. Winners and runners-up are decided in four categories, as well as a “People’s Choice” winner that is selected by public votes through Facebook. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀. Pretty harsh statement. But a lot of people are talking about trust these days. For good reason. I’ve heard a ton of stories about people having bad experiences with websites that contain inaccurate information. It’s not exactly a good look for them. I’m not talking about the usual suspects: →No CTAs →Slow loading →Crappy layout →Poor navigation These elements should be standard already, and if they aren’t, then you need to have a conversation with yourself or a designer. A website serves as the digital face of a business, no matter the size. When visitors land on the site, they expect the information on it to be accurate. That’s the trust I’m talking about. Believe me, nothing kills trust faster than learning your address on the contact page is 2 years out of date or your product page is horribly inaccurate. When that happens, the business can kiss its street cred goodbye, even if the site won site of the day on Awwwards. Moreover, the ripple effect that comes with bad reviews means the business owner now has to add “Public Relations Officer” to their list of credentials. Gaining trust back is an uphill battle you don’t want. The flipside of this is that customers will go to bat for you. They’ll become ambassadors and spread the word far and wide. Your traffic will increase, your bounce rate will go lower, and people will throw money at you. All because you’ve kept your word and gained their trust. That’s one hell of a currency. So how do we keep it real? 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆. This should be a habit. Look over your website with a fine-tooth comb and ensure accuracy. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲. Most businesses don’t have a workflow when it comes to updating and end up with bad info. Creating a simple workflow lets you edit on the fly if need be. 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲. If you have a team, then assign the auditing task to someone. If you’re a one-person team and don’t have the time, consider hiring a designer/developer who can take on that task for you. They can also ensure your website works properly. Don’t let your website become a liability. Facts should be fresh and precise. Do this, and you’ll show customers you’re on top of your game. Be deliberately different!

Sick of website visitors disappearing as fast as they came? 🏃♂️ Then make sure you're not missing these top 6 things on your Home page. 💻 An awesome clear offer at the top of the page. Nothing beats clarity. Make sure it's very obvious what you do or who you help in the headline and subtitle on your banner or slider. Make sure to have a high-quality image of a happy customer, real or fictive, as well. 💻 Calls-to-action or CTA buttons everywhere The buttons should be a bold, contrasting color that make them impossible to miss with specific, not vague, language about what action you want the user to take, like "Book a Meeting" or "Get a Quote." Most importantly, you should have a lot of CTAs throughout the page so the user never has scroll far to take that action. 💻 Social proof, as high as you can on the page. A website is not a place to be humble. Don't just show off your best reviews. Highlight the ones directly related to your products or services and that address the biggest objections prospects have. 💻 Add trust badges. Having the icons that show secure payment or professional certifications that prove you're legitimate really go a long way to building trust with strangers online. 💻 The problem you solve. Don't just talk about yourself and your organization. Explain the pain points your ideal client faces in their language so your messaging really sticks with them. 💻 The solutions in terms of results. Describing features of a product or service might make perfect sense to you, but be dull and unexciting to your target audience. Instead, describe the benefits AND the results or the measurable impact on their personal and professional lives, like time saved, money to be earned, satisfaction of helping for donors etc. And that's just the start. We then wrote up a super powerful email for them to send to her potential suppliers. The CEO then asked me, “Sarah, can you just give me some quick tips on how to design this email?” NO! NO! NO! NO! >Designing an email makes it look templated. >>We want them to believe you wrote the email specifically for them. >>>You want to show them that you want to work with THEM, not just anyone who sells healthcare products. She didn’t agree. She wants it to look ‘professional’. What do you think? We’ll be running some A/B testing. Half of her list will get a designed email, and the other half will get plain black-on-white text. Which do you think will be more effective? Looking forward to sharing the results with you.
