The Expertise Paradox: Understanding Your Role in Client Relationships "You don't have to know everything about your client's subject; you have to know everything about your subject." 🤝 This statement encapsulates a fundamental truth that professionals in client-facing roles should embrace. In the realm of professional services, whether you're a consultant, a marketer, or a designer, there's a prevalent misconception that you need to be an expert in your client's field to provide effective guidance. However, this assumption often leads to unnecessary stress and can detract from the true value you bring to the table. In reality, it's important to have a basic understanding of your client's subject matter; however, your true value lies in your expertise and ability to provide strategic guidance and innovative solutions. By mastering your subject matter, effectively communicating with your clients, fostering collaborative partnerships, and embracing continuous learning, you can elevate your role as a trusted advisor and drive success for both yourself and your clients.

In the realm of agency management, it's commonly observed that we ALL can get caught up in the day-to-day operations of business - sometimes overlooking the importance of planning for the future. We may be quick to embrace new opportunities or trends we see others succeed with, without taking a moment to consider how these fit into overall business strategy. While this enthusiastic approach can be motivating, it's important for us all to ensure that our decisions align with long-term goals and aspirations. Conversely, some agency managers may have established organizational standards, like vision, mission, and values, but these may have fallen by the wayside over time. While these standards were initially set with good intentions, they may have become disconnected from the daily activities of the organization. Both the spontaneous and stagnant approaches to agency management are common but can pose challenges for agencies. It's essential for agencies to invest time and energy into strategic planning and maintaining their organizational standards to ensure they're on track to achieve their objectives. Regardless of the current circumstances, the significance of strategic planning cannot be overlooked. By actively defining goals, assessing opportunities, and fostering a proactive mindset, agencies can navigate towards sustained growth and success in an ever-changing landscape…that's where we at BIGiOK Consulting can help.

If you're looking for ways to ensure the success of your projects/products. Here's 4 type people you should have in your team/organisation. Client/Customer Focused Individuals - The voice of the client, at meetings and discussions, every new move, technology that you make, these are the people that will bring us back to "Is this better for our customers?", "Is this what our customers want?", "what's the unique selling point that will bring us more customers compared to other products in the market?", "what does the customer or client wants from us?" These individuals are what we need so that what we are building can bring us closer to that goal. Compliance Focused Individuals - The one that knows where all the T's and all the i's are crossed and dotted, what are all the risk involved and making sure that we're meeting our requirements from a compliance point of view. It's always good to have someone in the organisation that can constantly remind us on meeting the compliance requirements. Project Focused Individual(s) - Whether it's internal or external projects, this is someone who knows the state of every single projects is at all times, someone that keep all the teams in the loop, the person that knows if a project has sidetracked (and steer the team back) or is meeting the necessary benchmarks. This person is the one that tracks where the team is at against the timeline or expectation or outcome. Culture and Identity - The person who embodies all the behavioral and identity of the company. These individuals are that sets the standard of how our clients/customers sees us. The person that is the embodiment of the culture the company is trying to build so that internally and externally. Are these fixed positions? Yes and no, sometimes, it is an extra set of skills/responsibility that one of the company's team member takes up. Does your company have such individuals? How you do identify these individuals and how they fit into your organisation?
