Our resident planning expert and CWPA MD, Joe Corr, recently joined Newstalk presenter Sean Moncrieff to discuss various planning topics. They covered the process of lodging planning applications, the importance of basing observations on planning criteria rather than personal objections, and the timing and duration of the application process. Joe also shared insights on strategic infrastructure developments, the appeals process, and judicial reviews. #Planning #Architecture #PlanningProcess #DevelopmentPlans #StrategicInfrastructure You can listen back here:

The MPO recently launched a Trending Topics page on bostonmpo.org to make some of our most recent and most requested research easily accessible. The first topic highlights transportation finance and features two reports: ▸ Our report on transit funding is a technical analysis of revenue-generating strategies used by MBTA peer agencies. We evaluated ten approaches in the areas of vehicle access fees, road usage fees, and transit value and considered how those approaches might apply to Massachusetts. ▸ Our report and the accompanying summary on roadway pricing documents case studies of five urban areas in the U.S. that employed roadway-pricing strategies such as congestion pricing, tolled express lanes, and variable parking prices. The paper offers guidance for understanding the endogenous relationship between bus service frequency and patronage growth. We provide a synthesis of the existing literature on the relationship between bus service frequency and patronage growth. By drawing upon both published studies and new scenario predictions for metropolitan Sydney, insights into the dynamics of public transport demand, particularly in urban and suburban areas are provided.
